Workplace B’Ashes 2015

We were delighted to take part in this year’s Workplace B’ashes at Sussex CCC. The annual event allows companies from around the local area to enjoy a day of soft ball cricket at The County Ground with their colleagues.

It allowed for colleagues to interact in an unfamiliar environment and to build those internal relationships that are so important for businesses. Regardless of the individuals cricketing ability, or lack of it in our case, each member was vocally supported throughout, strengthening the bond between members of the team from different departments.

The day out was perfectly organise; with the competing teams placed into groups of 4. Each group was managed by one umpire who scored each game and was there to answer any questions about the rules and indeed any ‘suspect’ decisions. The setting was ideal; The County Ground is a stunning venue and to be able to compete on the outfield was a real honour, for me at least! The sun even decided to make a rare appearance which only made the day that much more enjoyable, especially for those looking to top up their holiday tan. The BBQ provided was first class and concluded a great day.

Although we suffered at the hands of more ‘skilled’ teams, the overall experience made it a memorable day for me and our team at Brighton Racecourse, we’re certainly planning on attending in 2016 once we’ve had some much needed net sessions!

I would not hesitate to recommend the Workplace B’ashes to other companies, not only does it allow you to meet with other businesses from the area, it provides a wonderful opportunity for your staff to enjoy a great teambuilding day out.

Thanks to all of the staff at Sussex CCC for a splendid day out.

Where Cricket Meets... Consortium Business Solutions

On Friday 27th February, the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground hosted its latest ‘Where Cricket Meets...’ event, ‘Where Cricket Meets…St David’s Day’, sponsored by Cardens Accountants.

As a Boundary Club member I find attending the ‘Where Cricket Meets...’ events an excellent opportunity to support the Club whilst strengthening relationships with other Boundary Club members and I was delighted to share a table with several business contacts.

The event was packed out with 175 attendees and Tony Cottey did his usual superb job compering. The Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir gave a superb performance, which was followed by a delicious three-course lunch and an entertaining talk by special guest Dean Saunders, manager of Crawley Town Football Club. During the event, we took part in a game of heads and tails and a charity auction, which raised £3,050 for local children’s charity Rockinghorse.

Having seen the success of these events over the past few years, Consortium Business Solutions is delighted to be partnering with the Club to support ‘Where Cricket Meets…Ladies' Day’ in aid of the Lady Taverners on Tuesday 12th May.

Tickets for this event will be on sale from Monday 9th March at just £45 per head, for which you get a cocktail on arrival, a delicious three-course lunch with coffee and afternoon tea served later in the day. The event will coincide with the third day of the Sussex vs. Middlesex LV=CC match and the special guest is Tina Cook, the British three-day eventing rider and Olympian who won silver with her team at the 2012 Olympics. Tina will share some of her experiences in the world of eventing and as an Olympian.

We hope to see you there!
