Player Development

Sussex Cricket organises a comprehensive Player Development Programme to support talented players to develop their skills and to eventually become full time professionals. There is a clear Player Pathway for both boys and girls, which shows how a talented club player can further their game through being selected for Area or County Junior Cricket.

The Area Cricket Programme is run through the 4 Area Cricket Associations and squads are selected at U10 – U15 to take part in the Mike Beckwith Memorial Trophy each year.

Players who perform well at Area level progress onto the County Age Group Squads and the most talented of these players are selected for the Emerging Player Programme (U13-16) and Academy (U16-19)


Area Cricket Associations

Area cricket in Sussex is delivered in partnership between the 4 Area Cricket Associations (North, South, East and West), the Sussex Cricket Board and Sussex County Cricket Club.

The Area Cricket Associations (ACA's) play a key role in the delivery of the programme locally.
