Looking to train Umpires and Scorers

Traditionally, most education courses for umpires, scorers and coaches are delivered in the off season. We would like to offer some introductory umpiring and scoring courses as short (2-3 hour) midweek workshops (to be delivered by Sussex Association of Cricket Officials). We would like to run these as “local” to you as possible so the venues will be dependent on demand. The intended dates for these workshops would be the week commencing July 29th (or Aug 5th) and the cost would be no more than £10. Minimum age 14.

Looking to train a Welfare Officer

Given that all League Clubs are required to have a trained Welfare Officer and that it is part of the Clubmark accreditation requirements, we will lay on another Safe Hands course if demand from clubs necessitates it (earlier courses were delivered in March / April). The cost would be £15 and the course would be scheduled for August / September.

Please let your CDM know likely demand by Wednesday 17th July.

NatWest OSCA's 2013
Sponsored by Gardner & Scardifield

The NatWest OSCA’s seek to give recognition to those who keep the recreational and grass roots game alive with their passion, enthusiasm and drive.

It looks to reward those who have gone above and beyond their role within the club, to enable their club to thrive.

ALL nominees (subject to space restrictions) will be invited to an evening at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground on the evening of Friday 20th September. The evening is sponsored by Gardner and Scardifield and will include:
• Official Award presentation
• Guest speaker Tony Cottey
• Complimentary three course dinner and champagne reception
• Cricket based Quiz and Prizes

Please take the time to nominate a representative(s) from your club that you think deserves the accolade of the Sussex winner in one of the following:
- Behind the Scenes
- Young Volunteer
- Officials Award
- NatWest CricketForce
- Leagues & Boards
- Building Partnerships

- Groundsman Award (Sussex Award)
- Lifetime Achiever

Each winner of the Sussex categories will be invited to Lord’s on Monday 30th September for the national OSCA’s ceremony.

There are TWO ways to nominate:
1. If you feel the individual should be in with a chance of winning the County, and potentially the National OSCA, then please complete the nomination form in full.
2. If you feel the individual should be invited to the OSCA’s event, but you are happy for them not to be considered for as a Category Award Winner, then no need to include a citation.

Please return all nominations to carl.tupper@sussexcricket.co.uk no later than Friday 26th July.

The best judges of those that perform outstanding voluntary roles at their clubs are often the players and parents, so please help to get this message to these groups in your club. If you require more information on the nomination criteria, please contact your Cricket Development Manager.
