Sussex CCC staff blog
I’ve been at Sussex County Cricket Club for nearly two years, which has included two leaving parties! It’s not quite as bad as it sounds. I started at the club for a year’s Marketing Internship as part of my Marketing University Course, after which I returned to Bournemouth University to complete my degree (leaving party one). After completing my degree, I returned for the summer to assist with the club’s media work and match day activities, this contract ended at the end of the 2013 season (leaving party two). I was later offered a permanent role as Marketing Executive, which I was very happy to accept, whilst taking on the nickname as the club 'boomerang'.
My typical day at Sussex CCC would start with a hectic hour and a half drive from Hastings, which in the past has got the better of both me and my car. My day to day responsibility is the management of the marketing material between the club and our third party marketing agency, Pleece&Co. I would also assist in updating the website and social media, making sure all marketing materials around the ground are up-to-date, organising the annual press day, updating scorecards and answering the phones in the office.
The club are currently planning some new and innovative marketing ideas, which I’m really excited to be a part of and cannot wait to put into action. I feel very lucky to work here at Sussex County Cricket Club, and I’m very excited about my role going forward, hopefully there will be no more leaving parties in the near future!
