Sussex CCC staff blog
I’ve been at Sussex County Cricket Club for just over six months now, however I have been involved at the club since the age of 12. My role at Sussex CCC is Business Development Executive, working within the Commercial department.
I rarely start a day at Sussex CCC without a cuppa tea; I can’t operate without a certain level of caffeine running through the veins! My role can ultimately be split into categories, during the season and the off season.
During the season I am busy promoting events, selling match day sponsorship and hospitality as well as networking across the County to help raise the profile of Sussex CCC, and of course watching the odd over or two of cricket! Contrary to popular belief by friends and family alike the off season is arguably busier than the summer months for the Commercial team, we don’t just spend the winter twiddling our thumbs and playing golf waiting for the summer to come around again! During the off season we plan for the new season, liaise with clients to renew contracts as well as prospecting for new business, as my job title would insinuate. I am also heavily involved with the planning, organising and running of Sussex CCC events, most notably Where Cricket Meets and The Boundary Club.
Outside of business hours I like to get involved with the staff cricket and football teams, playing a number of fixtures under the esteemed leadership of Communications and Marketing Executive, Adam Matthews. We also all take part in a fiercely contested inter-staff darts league that, not to blow my own trumpet, I have started fairly well. But we’ll see where I finish by the end of the season, form is temporary...
Finally, I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far at Sussex CCC and am excited for what the future has in store not only for myself but as a club as a whole.
