I have set up this thread for discussing the financial crisis facing county cricket. A number of counties will be reporting their annual accounts this month, so these earnings can be added to the list below. These are operating profit/loss figures and do not include monies made from land sales.

Alll England players go unsold at the IPL.

Luke's just missed out and a few moments ago, having just scored the fasted 100 in Oz 20-20 history. Shah one of the top batsman at the BBL.

I don't understand - why don't they like the English players? Not that I am complaining, you understand...

Any confirmed moves yet? A number of releases but little hiring. Gloucs release Jon Lewis?

Pakistan v England series

Well this isnt far away - starts on Tuesday. Pakistan seem to have a few decent bowlers, although perhaps lack class in their batting. We may, I suppose, see Monty in action, but somehow doubt England will go down the 2 spinner route. Recent series here, have had fairly batsmen-friendly pitches, so may be difficult to force home a win.
England may be a bit rusty, so this might be a bit of a struggle for them, but England should really be too strong for them

Argus.......Sharks sign Kiwi all-rounder

Sussex have confirmed the signing of former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris as one of their two overseas players for the FP T20 campaign.
The 36-year-old played for Essex in the competition for the past two season but has made the switch to Hove.
Styris, who is an aggressive batsman and bowls medium pace, is hugely experienced having made 188 appearances in ODIs for New Zealand and also played 31 Twenty20 internationals.
He has also played T20 cricket in England for Durham and Middlesex and featured in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers.
Sussex coach Mark Robinson said: "Scott's experience and his all-round capabilities will mean he will be a real addition to the t20 squad."

.........excellent signing. Scott knows how to steady a team that has lost early wickets, build an innings and make a fifty to turn a game.For me Leicestershire won last year because they batted as a team and not as a series of individual knocks.

Too dramatic to say I personally am done with it all - but Im sick and tired of being a customer in an industry that has precious few customers and, not so much being ignored, as having the industry virtually thumb its nose at me.

Overseas Player 2012 for CC

We have had much discussion through other threads on who our overseas player should be for 2012.
Recently we have had
2011- Rana / Parnell
2010- Rana/ Yasir
2009- Wright/Chawla/Yasir

Our discussion seems to conclude we need a quality seamer who can bat at 8 or higher (due to Monty,Anyon and Amjad pre-booking of 9,10,11).

The problem of course is quality v availability v cost.

In the past we have flirted with Ryan Harris and Albie Morkel and that type .Abdul Razzack, Jacques Kallis, and players of that quality are usually unavailable (IPL). And of course they need a work permit which Excludes Dwayne Smith (but not Dwayne Bravo).

Who would want Robbos tricky issues??

Is there any way in which you can stay logged in even if you leave the site, turn off your computer etc?

It's a bit of a pain (ok only a minor one) to have to re-enter username and password each time you visit.

Is the tuneless singing of Jerusalem by the English supporters (I'm not going to call them barmy army because they're just a disparate band of England fans) not least because there's 2 verses.

And what's utterly pointless is all this gay clapping after they've sung it.

When I was in Napier sitting in one of the stands, the other English supporters were on this bank in another part of the ground with the ritualistic clapping after their rendition and these wallies in the stand joined in with the stupid, self-congratulatory applause

Any rugby fans out there - Union or League. I will be watching Worthing RFC V Old Albanians tomorrow in Division two South - generally they win most of their home games and lose most of their away ones - but nice club and clubhouse and an enjoyable afternoon

Also like Wigan at rugby league who are now one game away from the play-off final after beating Hull KR tonight - suspect theyll lose semi-final
