Re: Monty Panesar
I wonder if he might get a recall for England tomorrow?. They will take at least two spinners to Bangladesh, appear to think Rashid isnt ready - while Tredwell is just a poor man's duplicate of Swann.

He's the number one in All Out Cricket (*spit*) magazine's list of 10 players to watch in 2010.

That must be the kiss of death then if those jokers have tipped him up...

I just want to see him take wickets for us first so we get some value out of his signing and get us back up to the top division.England not to soon.
Dear All
I am sure you would like to join me, and all at the Club, in wishing Monty well in his newly married life ! I was lucky enough to pop along to the blessing in Coventry's Ricoh Arena on Sunday 7th February to enjoy the festivities as Monty married Gursinram. It was a fantastic, colourful affair and a pleasure to represent the Club at the event and meet some of the family
You will all be pleased to know that Monty is fit, well and not skidding off on honeymoon as he cant wait to get into the Sussex life
Nice one Monty from all your new friends at Sussex CCC
I would certainly like to join you in congratulating Monty on his marriage to Gursinram and very much look forward to seeing him at Hove in a few weeks time.
Congratulations Montster...
Glad he's looking forwards to playing here...
Congratulations Monty. Look forward to seeing you spinning the oppostition out at Hove in the summer.
Congratulations Monty on getting wed.
Congratulations Monty - sounds like a great occasion
Congrats from me.

Seems like a good time to post my first message - congratulations Monty.

Welcome Paskman on behalf of us all.
A bit late but many congratulations Monty and welcome both of you to the family.
While I support the signing of Monty Panesar, though I'd hoped he would just be part of our rebuilt attack, I cannot believe he has become our main hope of championship success.
He has put in some very good performances for Northants and England too, but he is no Mushy. Even when we had the great maestro he had a full supporting cast, a fit and in his prime Lewry, Rana, RMJ and Kirtley. Now though we are building all our hopes on being able to set big enough totals to allow Panesar to bowl us to victory.
Though Panesar and Rayner, in my opinion, represent our best chance of taking wickets, I think its totally unrealistic to expect them to manage the volume of wickets needed for us to mount a challenge. Its even debatable whether we could even post totals large enough to give them a chance. With two inexperienced batsmen in the top five and a rather lengthy tail, I think we will struggle for runs next season, and without runs, Panesar has no chance of taking wickets.

Its a shame that you posted this dull repetition of stuff you've been writing all winter on a thread in which we are congratulating Monty on his recent marriage and the subsequent celebration. Still, at least he will know what he's up against when he walks through the Tate Gates anticipating a warm welcome and a successful season with last season's Double Winners.
Welcome Monty!

Looking forward to seeing you at Hove Monty
Perhaps you should have read what I'd actually written above and on previous threads and you would see that I was wholeheartedly behind the signing of Monty Panesar. Indeed I consider him quite a coup and probably our best hope of taking wickets.
Panesar hopes to regain England place
He says he likes the area — as a child, he played beach cricket on family holidays in Brighton — and feels that the adage of a change being as good as a rest could apply.
just watched Monty's interview on Sussex TV and I thought he came over very well. speaks passionately about his game, is realistic and is obviously happy to be here.
it will probably take him time to settle but he strikes me as a confidence player. if you can build that, you will reap the rewards.
good to have you at sussex, Monty, and all the best for the season.

England playing two spinners today - encouraging for Monty.
Do you know what I'm looking forward to seeing Sussex's new number 11 batsmen
