Topic: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Our "away" game against the Unicorns will be at Arundel.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

I've just spotted that Arundel is also the venue for two games between England U-19's and Australia U-19's on 9th and 10th August.
It will be some of the world's best young cricketers playing at one of the world's most beautiful grounds.
It's just a shame that the games clash with the first two days of our championship with Surrey at Guildford.

I may have to do a day at each.

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Will Davies, Endersby, Parsons, Jones or Glover be included in England Under 19 team?

I fancy attending this one - can someone remind me what disabled access is like at Arundel (I haven't been there for a few years and my dad - now in his 80s - will likely be in a wheel chair).

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

I am sure there is a disabled section at the bottom end of the ground , near the beer tent .
I would check with our office and I am sure they will put you right.

Blimey O'Reilly - what is the point of that then? A team of has beens, rejects and not good enoughs. Sometimes the ECB surpass even themselves. Perhaps being named after a mythical horse will inspire them to greatness.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Any idea as to whether members will have to pay to  get in? If so another won goal by the ECB as no one will pay full wack to get in.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Was going to ask , will members have to pay to watch abunch of has beens and not good enoughs .

When we talk of too many games why on earth is this team plus Holland and Scotland in the pro 40 .

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Help me out here...there is too much cricket and too many teams so the ECB create another team of poor quality and another match of no interest ? Its not possible to be so thick is it?

Quite...why should anyone have to pay to watch Glamorgan  wink

The Unicorns have one scalp, and I suspect they will be after some more - they have nothing to lose, and no distractions like 4 day games to interfere with their preparation !

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

The Unicorns have been playing very well and the players are putting themselves in the shop window. The opener Thompson, for instance, has been playing the pinch hitter role very successfully. A county team might give him a chance if he continues his form.
They were on target to beat Sussex at one time in our match as well. I admit I was very worried at one point.

Thompson is contracted to Middlesex.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

He shouldn't be playing for the Unicorns then.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Hes registered to play for Middlesex, as hes played in the 2nd XI, but not contracted. I understand as soon as he plays for Middlesex's 1st XI hes ineligible to play for the unicorns as he would have to unregister for the unicorns.

"Eighty per cent of players believe the new county cricket structure is worse than last year, BBC Sport learns. "

Too much meaningless cricket and this game is one of them. How many members will pay the £15 entry fee + £5 parking for this "away" game.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

What would we want with a player who couldn't get in the Gloucestershire first team and deemed not good enough or surplus to requirements by them?

be interesting to see - good weather forecast may make it a popular event ?

I'm not a member and its a rare chance for me to venture south and see the Sharks in action, but I can understand why regulars may not want to shell out £20.

Re: ECB Unicorns vs Sussex 23rd May

Harry, we were talking to Jim May yesterday @ Northampton and he said that if you phone Arundel in advance and reserve tickets they are cheaper. £10 /£5 juniors, the No is 01903-882462

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?
