Re: Lewis Hatchett in Aus.
Lewis is 5th overall in the comp. so far with 20 wickets.
My benchmark for an outstanding season is 30 wickets, so with 3 rounds to go he will go very close to that.

Good news indeed Crow. Thanks for posting these updates and well done Lewis
I hasten to add...these 20 wickets are at an average of 16 and an economy rate of 2.85
They do not include one day wickets..3 matches 4 wickets @19 econ 3.08
or T20 wickets (5th overall again) 4 matches 7 wickets @11 econ 5.00
Very, very tidy in all formats of the game.
Brilliant.
This lad has played almost a full Oz season at a standard that is pretty much the equivalent to 2's cricket and has good figures across all formats.
Hopefully he's ready to get back to Hove pre season and hit the ground running and stake his claim, if he can do alright out there then he's got the skills to do it here pre season and then who knows?
We're not in the position to turn away good young quicks so he'll get his go alright...
Good luck son, get back and show people what you can do...
Can only second that big d looking forward to seeing him this coming season.
Lewis lets see how much you want it,good luck.
I heard today that Lewis has recently undergone surgery for appendicitis and will only play (at most) 2 of the last 3 games.
He is resting up at the moment but (if he reads this message board) I'm sure he would appreciate a few well chosen words of encouragement.
There would be nothing worse than being banged up in bed, sore as hell, without all of the 'comforts' of home.
All the best for a speedy recovery and getting back to knocking over a few more Aussie batsmen before returning to a successful English season.
Poor lad - get well soon Lewis - theres a place in the Sussex team waiting for you!
Can only second that sweaty. It could be a big season for the young man.
Robbo mentions developing a pool of young bowlers including "Lewis Hatchett, if he wants to be involved". Perhaps the young lad has other options....
Lets hope he wants to be involved given the drought of fast bowlers.
I took that comment to question his attitude, anyone else get that impression?
It could be he has other options open to him, lets hope its not the club up the road.
We have a quartet of seamers bowlers aged 19/20 (Adkin, Thorpe, Hatchett and Rollings) that Sussex need to try and develop further.
Southern Districts 266 (Hatchett b. 6) V Woodville
First game back after illness (didn't bowl last game but batted the week before - maybe selection was a bit premature?).
50 overs.
Southern Districts 6/200
Kensington 90 (Hatchett 8-2-21-2) - top order wickets (2&3), rather than charity wickets at the death.
Great economy and consistency again - my one man crusade continues !

Love's in the air!
Following on from some good reports in winter he's taken quite a few wickets recently.
Has anyone watched him for seconds this year? Any eye-witness accounts? What sort of pace is he?
Decent debut innings supporting wrighty - good luck with the ball today Lewis. There's an interview with "Hatch" on Sussex TV after close of play yesterday where he talks about his time spent down under.
I know we had this in the lookalike thread some time ago but he does look a bit like Lewis's sidekick - Hathaway (Laurence Fox = Mr Billie Piper who lives in Sussex I believe !)

Better than looking like the previous Mr Piper.
Congratulations Lewis!

Good to see Robbo acting fast before any other counties start sniffing round!
Excellent news

Excellent news. Hopefully Adkin, Thorpe and Rollings will follow suit.
