SPSL,
In that recent Robbo radio interview, he said that Dilshan had stepped in as cover for Dwayne and then stopped there. The bad news about Yasir Arafat missing the first 2 months of the season had just been released.
Meanwhile, I am surprised we are still awaiting confirmation that Rana is taking over for Yasir. I hope nothing has gone awry there.
As to Dilshan not playing for us at all, seems a little odd. Surely, Robbo would have known about his future commitments before signing him? I presume Dilshan has chosen not to play in Florida; and the World Cup 20/20 ends on May 16th. BUT, as you state, the Tri-Series between Sri Lanka, India and Zimbabwe, from May 26th - June 9th, has just been confirmed and comes after the news of Dilshan joining Sussex. So, what happens now? Did he sign a contract with Sussex before this confirmation? Had Dilshan already told the Sri Lankan cricket authorities that he wouldn't be available if the series went ahead?
Let us be positive and hope he prefers an English June. I'm sure Dilshan will.
Meanwhile, if Dwayne is available at the start of the Sussex 20/20, a county is allowed up to 4 O/S players in their squad, so Dilshan could play alongside him.
The Asia Cup starts on June 15th and ends on June 25th; and as Sri Lanka are the present champions, Dilshan won't be missing that. So, he can play for the first 5 Sussex 20/20 matches (June 1st-12th). BUT, this can lead to speculation that he may rejoin Sussex from June 27th to July 18th, after missing 5 games, and then play the final 6 before the quarter-finals on July 26th/27th? I have checked the Sri Lankan fixture list and it appears Dilshan is available during that period.
I don't remember the start of a Sussex season with so much player uncertainty. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more twists and turns still to come.

"Now the stumps have asked for pads!"
(Aussie radio commentator Kerry O'Keeffe as Rahul Dravid, bowled six times in seven innings during the present series, walks out to bat at the Adelaide Oval)
