Re: Why is it?

Doh - I meant to put this under "General Chat"

Re: Why is it?

why are all the pom-pom girls in the IPL white caucasian? There are plenty of attractive young Asian ladies in the crowd, why aren't they performing gyrating dance routines?

Simple; because they are cheaper.

Re: Why is it?

No it would be because they appeal more to a global audience

Murray Goodwin is my God.

India has a population of 1,178,900,000
Bangladesh 162,200,000
The UK 62,000,000
Australia 22,200,000
New Zealand 4,300,000
South Africa 49,300,000
West Indies 37,500,000
Sri Lanka 20,200,000
Pakistan 169,100,000
Zimbabwe 12,500,000

I'm not convinced by your argument. Non-Caucasians would be an overwhelming majority in the cricket-playing world. And considering that the vast majority of the world's population is African and Asian they don't seem to be targetting the global market at all, do they?

I suggest that it may be because Indian ladies have much more self-respect and are therefore more conservative.

Re: Why is it?

It was interesting to note that when Tiger Woods was practicing his putting he chose only caucasian women to help him.

Being a Sussex fan continues to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

I would have chosen hole 9 for my birdie putt!

"It would be nice to think that we are the golden generation rather than the footballers."

(Graeme Swann isn't shy about voicing his opinion after England beat Australia to win the NatWest series while the footballers lost to Germany in the World Cup)

Re: Why is it?

The reason maybe religious - many of the Asians are held by the religious ideals (particularly in Asia) due to family expectations.  And image is very important to Aisian families.

Also maybe they just want to retain their dignity (difficult to do when shaking your pom poms and wearing skimpy clothing.  smile

This comment is a bit pc isn't it?

The establishment, the left and chattering classes are always trying to push back the boundaries of decency in society and people who try to uphold decent morals are labelled "prudish" by these clowns and yet here are these pom-pom girls doing something entirely innocent and just adding a bit of colour to the razzmataz and lofty implies these western girls are undignified and belittling religion. Utter nonsense.

Re: Why is it?

Those asian ladies can shake there pom poms for me all the time cool  cool

Re: Why is it?

Putting this in the Matches thread, coupled with a dollop of more inflammatory politics, is more trollish attention-seeking.
