A rehash of the Morgan to Warwicks story after yesterday, but also interested to see them after Bopara. I can't see it happening to be honest.

Re: Other counties

We are after all these top quality players who we have a 1% chance of signing just as we are desperately trying to flog 6 yearly memberships. Theres a surprise.

Re: Other counties

I wonder if Chopra may have a role in this?

Re: Other counties

talking of Amjad Khan, whatever happened to Robbie Joseph of kent - he always bowled well against us and had a bit of pace about him - anyone know?

Re: Other counties

Hes been out for a year with an injury and just got back. Good bowler.

Re: Other counties

Well I've had fun this morning winding up my Essex friends, telling them Ravi's on his way to Warwicks, just to complete the good news for Essex they have just signed Bryce MacGain.
Is this the worst debut ever at test level?

Re: Other counties

Tough call. He scored 2 runs, which is better than Gavin Hamilton's, but went for over 8rpo.

Perhaps it is a tie.

not the greatest career move!

Re: Other counties

The Chavs sign Bravo for t20 finals. Don't think he played in the group stages which I thought was a requirement?

Re: Other counties

Somerset signed Cameron White to play T20 but I don't think he has actually played yet. Bravo has been signed as a replacement for Styris and looks a good move with RTD and Napier injured.

Kent release Ferley and Lee:

Re: Other counties

Sadly looks as though due to his latest knee setback that Flintoff may struggle to play again.

I wonder if he's worth a look, as we need some batting strength, good 2nd eleven record and a good age.

Re: Other counties

May be worth a look Silas, but I would have thought our real need in the batting department is for someone with experience to fill the holes left by Goodwin (if/when he retires) and Yards/Luke/Matt while homegrown youngsters like Thornley, Gatting, Wells and Machin develop.

Re: Other counties

I agree Ali, but I'm not sure the experienced players will be out there for us.

Re: Other counties

surely hes no better than the young lads weve got - in fact hes probably worse

Re: Other counties

Well he averaged 78 this season and 60 last in the 2nd eleven championship, so I think this is more of a case of a lad whose face doesn't fit rather then lack of ability.

Re: Other counties

We really need to set the bar higher I'm afraid, we have a pressing need for a reliable opening bat. Our opening partnerships have been horrendous again this season with a seasons best of 64 I think.

Re: Other counties

Whilst I'm surprised by Surrey's decision to release Evans I don't  think we should going for him as I'm not convinced he would be an improvement on Thornely, Gatting, Wells and Machan.

Re: Other counties

It has to be either our own or someone special really doesn't it?  How do you get someone who will improve our team and, who actually would anyway, apart from the likes of Key, Carberry, ect?  Did we try and get Moore last season?  He may have helped.

They just need someone steady like Montgomerie.  I'm not sure how many would have said he was really special before becoming a legend down here.  Evans is probably a bit too unproven but a FC average of 35 with a century is a lot better than our youngsters so far have achieved

Not sure but Warwicks pulled out because of his huge salary demands. Averages 25 for Lancs this year after 27 for Worcs last year  (when as opener he never got a 50 in the first innings) so neither of us missed anything.

And he already had a spell with us a few years back, we obviously didn't like what we saw then.

Re: Other counties

Quite why he was being mentioned as an England possible is baffling. The last two times in Div1 with Worcs he did nothing except make sure they regularly got the innings off to a bad start.

Certainly not a player I would want at Hove and I was surprised Lancs took him on.
