Rumour has it that they will lose Carberry to Surrey with Brown returning in the opposite direction.
Does that mean Frost will come out of retirement again?
Johson will be 1XI keeper.
Brown and Carberry swapping counties is an interesting suggestion and not out of the question.
Hants have made a curious and unconvincing denial of the Ambrose story. They say although they have made a written 28 day approach, they do this with all good players coming out of contract. But they say they arent interested because they are happy with their keepers and haven't even spoken to Ambrose.

Kim - If Ambrose goes and Johnson is 1XI keeper who will be your 2XI keeper?
A 16 year old Liam Gately, who is very highly rated, unless we sign anyone. He played in the seconds last week.

When he is at school / college?
Tim Ambrose not playing for Warwickshire again this week.
Sad that.
It is indeed. Hampshire are no longer interested either. Im still hoping Peter Moores will take on and sort out this very talented cricketer.
All he needs is a Monty style rehabilitation, he used play for us as just a batsman and I think there would be a space for him. Get him back to Hove and enjoying his Cricket again!
For that to happen Lancashire would have to release Sutton (or make him into a batsman) which he was at Derbyshire.

And as if by magic.....

Could Sutton be returning to Derbyshire?
I haven't been following Tim's progress closely this season, so I am very sorry to hear of his calamitous loss of form with the bat - just 267 runs in 20 first class innings including 6 ducks.
I do hope he can find some way back to the top: he can hardly be burned out at 27.
There is an interesting piece today on The Guardian website;
Other players on the move include wicket keepers Luke Sutton (Lancashire to Derbyshire) and Tim Ambrose, who seems certain to leave Warwickshire with a return to Sussex being mentioned - which could in turn leave their keeper Andrew Hodd as a possible target for Lancashire's former Sussex coach Peter Moores.
Which is news to me.
Anyone heard anything?
There are conflicting reports from a couple of new posters on the Hodd thread graem - usual end of season contract renewal mischief I expect.
For the sake of not complicating matters with Brown and/or Hodd, I would only sign Ambrose purely on batting and on that score I'm not sure he is good enough.
Some people may get nostalgic and think of it as bringing one of our own home but in his last two seasons with us he was very poor indeed. Add this year to that and it is three of the last six seasons where he hasn't averaged over 20, and two of those are by a long way.
Imo there must be better out there becoming available. If there isn't, I'd rather persist with Gatting or Thornely or give Wells a shot.
I certainly cannot imagine Robbo even contemplating this.
I would not advocate Tim coming back in any capacity other than a batsman, but is he good enough?
But Mike wheres the smoke? ![]()
This could only be a possibility if he wants to return to Brighton,Hodd is definitely going and Brown is willing to concentrate on batting
Cant see that

I'd love it if we could keep both Hodd and Brown happy. Both top top cricketers.
