Warwicks are going to move for Tredwell. Not 100% enthused by that. Be interesting to see the effect of this on Kent tomorrow in our huge relegation battle.
kent a fortune promoting a couple of pop concerts. now where have i heard that before?

I'm not a fan of butchering the Kent side right now, it will be awful if they lose all their best players. But if they have to, I would think Tredwell would be a good signing for Warwickshire - like I thought Panesar would be.
They all ready have a good pace attack and Tredwell would free up that O/S position for a much needed batsman. Two things amazed me about the Tahir signing; firstly, that Hants let him go, secondly, that Warwickshire took him.
How on earth did Giles not recognise that without Bell and Trott Warwicks would be woefully short in the batting order? And they were always gonna be away.
Amjad and Denly would be good signings. But like you R, I would rather that Kent could keep their better players

Kent have made a lot of mistakes that Sussex have made in the past. There's some good players that they've let go and the manner in which they let them go like Nixon left a lot to be desired. I hope the Kent supporters can kick out some or all of the idiots on their committee who have taken the club to the difficult position they're at now, following the mistakes with the pop concerts and hotel. There must be some well connected business people who are Kent supporters and Kent have a number of credible former players who could surely fulfil the Tony Pigott/Robin Marlar roles.

It remains a mystery. My opinion is it was budget. He cant have said "im likely to lose 2,500 runs, and Tony Frost has retired. Varun Chopra , who averaged 25 in div 2 with Essex will solve this" . Especially as he was planning on making the wickets livelier at the same time.

If Kent need a hatchet man to get rid of any 'dead wood', Gus Mackay should be available in the next 12 months.
According to our(Kent) Chairman George Kennedy "none of our contracted players will be leaving" This is the 2nd time he has denied the rumour that "all senior players are free to talk to other counties should they wish"
He denied it at the Kent V Lancs game and denied it again in Kent on Sunday Newspaper. I believe he dug into his pocket to give the club a loan earlier in the season. (Not sure if it's interest free or not!)
So as we were for the time being!!
It may be that he has to cover himself publicly. If he said they could talk to other clubs it would then be hard to claim compensation.
Further to my previous posting re Chairman's denial. I wonder if he is up at Edgbaston and if he will now change his mind after watching the debacle unfold there!
May need a Sussex membership soon!
Very likely that Van Jaarsveld will sign for Lancs

I have been watching the worst county batting I have ever seen in this match. By Kent and us.
The straight ball is the new black.
Come on Kim, it couldn't have been worse than the shower at Bristol ![]()

Looks like our Edgbaston defeat is back on the agenda for next summer
I as a diehard Sussex supporter all my life and that of my Father and that of my etc etc, I love the competetion with Kent, I certainly dont " hate them " ( how can you hate a Cricket County - how silly and so very modern ) YOu can hate Liverpool or Man U , Celtic or Rangers but how can you " hate " a county - thats 20 / 20 breeding ground for you anyway.... ,I but shudder at the thought of a COunty going to the Wall. The thought is ludicrous to me, and a county with the demographic of the Medway towns, Gillingham, Maidstone, Ashford & dover should not be struggling for support.
I have long thought 3 Divisions are needed, bringing in minor counties with a play off between each division between the second last and second top respectively..
I live in Tenterden, Kent and some of the young guys I see on the village circuit, that play for T Wells/ Ashford / Bromley are better or more potential then anything you will occassionaly see on the COunty scene - there is some serious talent in Kent a veritable hotbed of cricketing harvest.
As per usual my Old Man was right - money kills all sports at grass root level, and you will have to go back to the Old days, when players were not full time professionals and were most of the time frontmen for a brewery, or a solicitor in town etc etc.
Kent may lose all their players, but why not properly scout the top League teams, why not play more roaming games in Dover and Ramsgate on bank holiday weekends - bet they get more the 5k in...why not smash up Devon, Bucks and Suffolk and have a play off against Warwks at Lords in Sept...why not ?
Please Kent get it sorted only football and rugby disgraces itself with the filthy lucre and they are all being run broke - chickens will roost, dont sell yourself out.
£10 entry fee for championship games, kids go free, have coaching nets for young'ns from groundstaff - have beer at £2 a pint, make players go out and sit with the crowd - keep the facilities open after stumps. etc etc there's so much you can do its easy.
Good luck Kent, see you at T Wells soon...
I do not hate any county but Kent do appear to be in a bad way .They now look like being relegated and Stevens Denly and V J will all likely leave . All it seems as a result of poor management on the finance front.
Hope they sort themselves out .
Could well be the two promoted sides that go down. Very Premiershiplike. ![]()

And two relegated sides go back up?
CQ, not sure about minor counties - all seems a bit silly in the Pro40 this year counties thrashing the Netherlands week after week

Looks like it. Essex are a very poor side. Ive only seen Kent once - they look the same. We look like staying up with a top 7 who all average below 30. Amazing.
Looks like we will end up with 9 wins in the last two years - 8 against the sides who went down.
Thats doing just enough defined.

The Netherlands were terrible but Scotland and Unicorns played well.No surprise with the lopsided groups its a team from the Netherlands group that will probably be the best second place finisher.Bringing more substandard teams in can hardly be a strategy to improve the standard.
It would be ok if you ran a straight knock out cupwith a first round excluding 8 seeded teams from Div 1 and let the other ten counties play with 6 additions (Universities,Minors,Scotland ,Clayton etc)
Another good article by George Dobell :
Kent fight for survival (plus some stuff on Leics and the Pakistan betting saga)
the Minor COunties play an excellent standard of cricket , and certainly better then some of the fayre I 've seen this year. Lets not talk about one dayers, I 'm talking about the League.
and if Suffolk etc were exposed to the mighty Kent and Derbys of this world no doubt they would improve
The pull of Sussex membership gets more attractive. Was down in Brighton at Bank Holiday with Mrs. Leg and kids. She was impressed that the ground at Hove is fairly close to the beach. She suggested that my eldest son and I could go to Hove and she would take the other two to the beach on match days. We are also nearer to Hove than we are to Canterbury.
Seriously though on cricket matters. We look doomed now. We have to get maximum pts against Yorkshire (Away) and hope that Warwicks come unstuck at Hants! Article in Kent on Sunday says that two senior players are considering their options and another refused to comment about a move to Lancs! What is happening to my county?
