Topic: Scarborough

A lovely article about the recent Scarborough Festival written by a good friend. I thought some of our messageboarders maybe interested. I'm hoping we get promoted and play at next season's festival.

I Went to Heaven Last Week………

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: Scarborough

Scarborough must have the biggest outground on the county circuit, bigger than some county home grounds.

Alan Ayckbourn has literary connections to the town and the tv sitcom "Rosie" wich was shown on BBC in the late 70s early 80s was set in Scarborough. The programme wasn't up to much but the scenery was nice.

Whatever happened to their football team who played their first home league game against Wolves in div 4 back in the 80s?

Re: Scarborough

Thanks for the article - I've got my fingers firmly crossed for a Yorks v Sussex at Scarborough next season.

Although it has rained every time I've been there in the past 3 years!

Sorry, can't help with the footie team.

Re: Scarborough

Footy team folded in 2007 after financial troubles and relegations. Reformed immediately as Scarborough Athletic and now playing in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division which is four levels below Blue Square Bet Premier (Crawley's league).

I was at that game v Wolves back in 1987.

Back on a cricketing theme, I went to Scarborough last year for the game v Warks. Lovely place and I too hope that Sussex can play there in the Festival

Re: Scarborough

Yorkshire are going to play their CB40 semi-final at Scarborough (it's the day before the ODI at Headingley).

Fingers crossed we can still be there; it will be a great occasion.

I'd heard there were issues with Sky televising the game at the outground so I guess that must have been sorted.

When I saw the semi final draw I thought it was strange an out ground was being used. Now I see why. Well if it's as good there as everybody says it is it should be a good turn out. How Yorks need a domestic final appearance.
