Topic: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Thought we may need a thread on this.
There is no carpark at the Travelodge, but an NCP behind which charges £12 per 24 hours.
I e-mailed Worcester CC to find out if we could park up at their carpark at the ground and leave cars there for the duration.
They said it was ok, but they charge £9 per day, but agreed to the four days for £27 , still a bit steep IMO.
The hotel told me there is a carpark at King Street, about 3 mins walk from the hotel and they charge £6 per 24 hours, so that seems the best option.

Not sure what sort of deal Martin arranged when he parked the mini-bus at that other hotel in Worcester last September, would it work out cheaper Martin?

Sorry, I can't remember.

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Looks like the £6/24 hours option is best then, unless any others come up with better info.
Where is our mate Searchers?

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Just booked up- hopefully the weather is good.

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

I'm here Hailsham, and just finding out how tight fisted you lot can be lol   tongue   So you've negotiated £27 for four days parking at the club - a great deal.  But you'd rather pay 4x£6 saving £3 and walk the rest !  Don't worry about the Worcs hoodlums who I'm sure won't touch your cars.

Seriously though, when you guys come up it would be good to say hello, if I can get to the match.  We've still got an outside chance of promotion but we need to beat your chaps and hope Glammy bottle it.

And ...... did anyone see THAT match last night   big_smile   Stuffed the money-boys and shut up the Sky commentators.  Mongoose bat anyone ?

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

my preference is to park at the ground - maybe ask again how much - that way we can mke a quick getaway on the final day - anyone got a view - we may be able to negotiate a better price as well

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Simon, I recieved an e-mail from the ground manager, Paul Phillips, stating that the normal parking fee is £9 per day.
He also says that due to the uncertainty of the match lasting all four days, he is prepared to waive the last day, so the fee will be £27 for the duration of the match, including overnight, which is not normally included.
Obviously, the overnight element is at our own risk, but he adds, they have rarely had any previous problems.
This seems to me the best option, drive straight to the ground, park up and take our bags at the close of play to check in to the hotel, then on the final day, as you say we can leave straight after the end of the game.
It is slightly cheaper at King Street, but I would imagine that you would have to go to the car park every morning and buy another ticket for the next 24 hours.
I have to let him know how many cars and their registration numbers that want to use this option, so anyone wanting to, please PM or text me by Wednesday at the latest.

when he says they haven't had any previous problems, make sure your car has watertight doors.

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Put Us down as Ford Capri Ghia, MUG 478D, £50, well i think he still has it!

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Good point by our Paul Phillips.  Can't see the game going four days with our awesome attack.  Look out for Colin Choudhry   wink

You'll all be very saddened to hear that there won't be a repeat of last year's presentation after the match - 'cos the club don't know which day it'll end I presume.  Funny, that here we are 12mths on and our final game home game is Sussex who once again will be celebrating.

Of course I hope we thrash you like we did last year in the Pro40 - you'd still go up as champions and who knows, we might be celebrating too !!  How many people thought we'd be in the running for promotion at the beginning of the season (it is a faint hope I know)

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

Cheers Sercher, looking forward to coming to Worcester again, nice ground, nice people and this time we get 3 nights out.
Are you going to be there at any time? Come and find us, we should be easy to spot, lol.
If its any concilllation, I would rather Worcester went up with us than anyone else, partly because it would probably mean there would be one team below us next season,  wink
Any chance that Richard Jones might want to move South, I rated him when he bowled at Hove. smile

PS, any tips on town centre eateries, Indian, Chinese, Steak House?

Re: Worcester, 13-16 Sept Jolly

..ignoring your provocative comment about league positions and moving on swiftly.  Sweaty has sent me his mobile no. so I'll get in touch when I know what my plans are.  Most eateries are within walking distance of each other, centrally located.  Presume you won't be in a fit enough state to drive out of town.

Richard Jones has only just signed a 2 year extension to the end of 2012.  I think he's one of the best prospects on the circuit, he has a great action and very nippy.  But the wheels seem to have fallen off and he has hardly played the last two or three months.  Big mystery.  Started the season very well but he's lost control and became expensive.

Chris Russell - watch out for this guy, you might have seen him on Sky the other night - the one swearing to himself, spitting, dropped your old mucker 2nd ball of innings (and another sitter) and then got carted around.  Ignoring these minor errors   cool  he's going to be quite a bowler.

I'm definitely going to Worcester. Possibly coming down to Hove on Thursday, depending upon the state of the game and the weather forecast.
