Re: Sussex vs Durham, May 11th FPT, Hove

well watched the second half, and must admit to being worried for a while, but i have to say what a good team we have developing - the fielding was superb with RHB and Luke really standing out - both bowled well and the icing on the cake was seeing James rolling back the years and taking wicket after wicket

Roll on Friday - looking forward to a cheap cup of tea!

So TC do you still think Collymore should be in the one-day team ahead of Kirtley? I very much doubt Collymore would have got 6 wickets! Nice to see Joe get his first fifty in Sussex colours and Joyce get a century.

Yes..Collymore would have taken 8 for 24 obviously.Stupid question Sharkey but if I go through your posts I will find lots more.If you recall I said I was sure Robbo was rotating to ease up his older bowlers.I am delighted James found some form and he is great at the death with pitched up yorkers etc.Really attacks the stumps when opponents need 9 an over.Reminds of his triumph with yasir in an FPT final.

Should Hoppo have played instead of RHB?

Should Queen Elizabeth abdicate..wouldnt Charles be a much better queen?

Who can answer these eternal mysteries...? I suggest you try AEW Parsons

Superman wears James Kirtley pyjamas!

Re: Sussex vs Durham, May 11th FPT, Hove

Great all round effort by Sussex. Really pleased for Kirtley, he has showed true guts after his penultimate over against Surrey.

Hopefully he has got his confidence back in one day cricket.

When Dwayne is back we are going to be a seriously good side in one day cricket.

When Dwayne is back, we're going to have a selection dilemma for the 1 day team.

What a wonderful dilemma to have!

Couldn't call myself a stick insect but now going in the right direction!

Re: Sussex vs Durham, May 11th FPT, Hove

Brilliant stuff --- well done to the team, management  and supporters too!!!

And of course James Joyce who wrote the script.

Most of us watching on Sunday lost our nerve after James bowled 3 or 4 wides in his penultimate over and we would given the final over to Luke or anyone.  Yardy held his nerve and so, of course, did James. Us of little faith.

And the rest is history!!

Where we have all been correct is in saying that we have a very good one day team.  And it will get better.

Re: Sussex vs Durham, May 11th FPT, Hove

Just reading through the events of yesterdays finish (when I left Durham were cruising - maybe I should be banned on Friday!) and loved some of the quips....

"Munch-all" referring to Blackwell (hailsham chris)
and
"Superman wears James Kirtley pyjamas" (headhigh_beamer)
were particular favourites, good effort!

Re: Sussex vs Durham, May 11th FPT, Hove

It was a good game, and always good to see the boys win. Joyce, Gatting and Kirtley all playing very well. I was very impressive with Mr Gatting, that lads got a good future ahead of him. smile

Sussex and proud.
