Well I guess we have had 'Five go mad in the UAE' so far for the top order!  smile

I like the idea of Tamim for the T20, but also Doug Bracewell could be a useful addition.
Styris and Southee are pretty close and they were Essex's pair last season.
Southee would be a better bet in the Championship rather than the T20, where he didn't really impress.
My gut feeling is Rana or Yas, and I think Parnell may not be totally out of the picture!

Does anyone know where I can buy a fake handbag for my wife?

Judging from recent history, I thought the handbag posts were a new marketing drive from the ECB!

Think another thing he offers is also the occasional miracle. No game is ever totally lost while hes batting. And no target is too big either. Feisty bugger as well.

This is great news. Essex always looked a much better side with Styris in the team, he gives us some real power down the order and some useful overs as well.

.......yes it seems to have been a good bit of business. How did Bournemouth manage to find the money though? smile

Exactly my thoughts, especially when you add it to the £200k they paid for Steve Cook.
It wasn't long ago that Bournemouth were pleading poverty, so somebody with some serious money must be bankrolling them.......

Strange parallels between them and errr Crawley  wink

A terrific performance from Monty especially to get out Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan.

The only thing from a Sussex perspective is that with Ollie Rayner and Tom Smith no longer at the county, Josh Poysden at University and Jack Parsons having given up cricket the spin bowling cupboard doesn't look quite as fall as it once did with only Will Beer in reserve.

Maybe we should sign Swann and try to do the same for his career as we have done for Monty.

I hope you have a great time  lol
I will try to get a couple of days at Lords and the Oval in hopefully.

I'm not sure if we already have a thread for this (I've probably missed it!)
Is there going to be one? If so where? and don't say Southend!

Excluding the IPL for the moment, would it be possible to draw up a definitive list of the players who might be available. Given the new restrictions and the very clear remit, we cannot be talking about any more than a dozen players can we?

I think that would make an interesting read, I'm sure the list would contain many from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, no offense to those countries but I'm sure they were not the top notch international players the ECB had in mind with this hair brained scheme!

I think were put in place to try and improve the quality of overseas players and remove the low quality overseas player we saw a few years back.

So the ECB decides to introduce it's own nanny state, by protecting clubs from themselves because they can't be trusted to employ decent OS players.
If the ECB are so worried about the standard of Cricket when will we get a similar system for English qualified players?

I do think the rules are stupid and the total amount of ODI played should count and not just those in the last 2years . In Tests its 1 Test in the last 2 years but 5 in the last 5years . Why not set a figure for so  many ODI in the last 5 years !!

Or why not just let the clubs sign who they want with no restrictions.

No Albie Morkel for T20 competition as he has replaced Van der Merwe at Somerset.

So thanks to the ECB, Van De Merwe who is a sort after commodity in most other T20 competitons in the World, isn't good enough to play in England.........

A Big Bash

Probably best not to hang around in the deckchairs too long after a day at Hove, just in case.

I think thats known locally at 'Fortress Chelmsford' as being playful!

Westfield hasn't got 7 years. The article says that is the amount he could get.
He pleaded guilty so that will be looked upon favourably.

I would be surprised if he gets more than 2 years.

I would surprised if he gets that to be honest. He was extremely poorly paid by Essex and while the money on offer was more than half his annual salary it was paltry compared to what Butt et al would have got by fixing an international game. Besides hasn't he been punished enough by being released by Essex and unlikely to find another county now? I'm not sure what a custodial sentence would achieve in this particular case apart from costing tax payer £85,000 per annum. What does concern me is the fact that he used legal aid to fund the case which is pay for by us the taxpayer!

So using your logic, any crime that doesn't involve a theft of approximatly £100k should never be prosecuted. So for instance rape, murder or speeding offences should never go to court as there is no financial loss.

A semi final tomorrow for the Stars, Wright v Collingwood, should be interesting!

Does anyone know what it is?

The reason I raised this is that in the Ranji Trophy final Vineet Saxena is 207* having faced 555 balls or 92 overs and 3 balls!!!!!! Which is an amazing effort, in fact it's more than England managed in either innings of the test.

Spot on FM, even Sir Alex would not be able to solve Hastings problems, and the club will continue to stagnate with the current Chairman, but unfortunatly the Chairman is the only person who does not realise that.
I could see Wilson as the next custodian of the shirt button budget we have, but when Rye United are more attractive to play for you have to ask questions!

Both Lewes and Eastbourne Borough are now managerless, could there be a job swap???? Or is Wilson heading back to Hastings????

Talking of developments, here is one a bit closer to home, thou not close enough to get any County Cricket!

Really! So the youngsters who never get a game, are getting a game in a first class competition, and all of a sudden they are better off being in the nets.
I will remember this post when the summer comes!
