Not really sure i can agree with the 'Poor Matt' bit Sweaty, the man seems to have no idea whatsoever of the responsibilities of a batsmen when he's being partnered by tail enders, he's constantly leaving them on strike so what can he expect ?
At a lower level of cricket i believe he would be accused by most of looking after his own average
So they can keep showing the same shite to anal people who are stupid enough to watch it for years to come and pretend it's recent, like most TV in fact when you think about it
How about trying the market in Bognor Regis ?
Wake up at the back jonboy
The ECB would quite happily see the Championship reduced to one match per season, whereas 20/20 is the God of money, sorry cricket, and rules have and will be changed to suit that outlook, as for hindering development, you think that is a sufficient financial consideration ?
Dreadful yes, but the loss or unavailability of Christopher Mpofu, Ray Price, Vusi Sibanda and Keegan Meth meant a badly understrength side, with so few players to select a national side from the lack of these players hits home badly, on balance a far better reason for defeat than England can put forward
And then there were :
South Africa 96 in 24.3 overs v Australia
Australia 47 in 18 overs v South Africa
Sri Lanka 82 in 24.4 overs v England
and so on
Are the batsmen getting worse, the bowlers better, the wickets more bowler friendly or are the batsmen unsure of which discipline they happen to be playing in ?
Maybe that's something to do with the number of English players currently showing their ability in Zimbabwean domestic cricket, learn from the best eh ? .........
Let's hope for his sake he's not as big a failure in Zim as other former Sussex players like Rayner and Hamilton-Brown, oh, and Vincent
All Arthur Scargill ever taught me, was not to take any notice of what Arthur Scargill ever said, other than that, forget it
I, for one, don't believe anything about anyones contract unless i've actually seen it TC, for all i know Wright may have a contract that includes a release for advertising Pukka Pies and modelling M&S swimwear, the point i make is that players in all sports seem to treat contracts in a totally cavalier fashion while expecting their employers to adhere to every letter
Players have the right to maximise their earnings, of course they do, but within the framework of a contract they have voluntarily and willingly signed, like you and i when we took employment ?
What's all this talk about contracts ?
Contracts only have any standing to them nowadays when a player wants his way over his employer, i can't believe anyone can possibly believe otherwise
I'm really surprised at you RFawden for expecting Wright, or anyone else, to put club before bank balance, sorry personal development, i thought you were more than sufficiently cynical to believe otherwise
Sorry to be even more dumb than usual, but a hundred, a fifty and 4 wickets in which match ?
Sorry softandfluffy, but if disagreeing that this woman, or any individual male, female, black, white, christian, muslim or anything else you care to name, can say things without being questioned makes me play into the racist game, then you best classify me as racist
My personal belief is that my comment IS a balanced moderate viewpoint, nobody of any ethnic grouping should be allowed to make statements and then be protected from responses by their own or any other ethnic grouping
I'll have to careful now or i'll be accused of falling out with other messageboarders (again)
Why shouldn't people question this womans choice of words ?
Imagine if some high profile white had said "Black people love playing 'divide & rule' - We should not play their game"
There would be all hell to play with offended groups crying and weeping in the streets, if they hadn't all been burned down of course
One rule should cover all, no ethnic group should be favoured over any other, that's if all ethnic groups really do want equality
As for your comments about children softandfluffy, i doubt that many children understand what paranoia, obsession or distort actually mean when their education is taken from txt spk
I'm certainly not going into the detail that you chaps have, but let's not forget that private sector companies are not the only con artists around
When i worked for Royal Mail, under all it's various aliases, our pension scheme went on a jolly holiday as well, considering that Government takes most of the profits made by GPO/Post Office/ Royal Mail, who was it it that stole 10's of millions from our pensions ? yup, it was the Government, the Labour version(s) as well as the Conservatives
I doubt very much that our pension was unique among 'Governmental' organisations, so where is the public chest beating over my missing cash ?
I didn't go to work today because i took my pension early last year and, according to the media, gained 16.7% on todays values
Should i be headhunted as Chancellor of the Exchequer ?

Leicestershire have caved in to what ?
Some bloke writes something on a blog and you believe it ?
How does he know what Leicestershire have agreed to ?
As for a 'proper transfer system akin to that of football' and transfer fees in the public domain, dream on, anyone that believes that football is operated openly must be living on another planet, it's all about business, and businesses aren't going to give away information about their financial dealings unless they're forced to
As for the old chestnut about Hamilton-Brown, have i missed an announcement about the settlement Sussex received, or is it just insider information Sharkey ?
What i mean is the entire team set-up, if you're going to play 50 over cricket at the highest level then what is the use of using the 40 over version at domestic level ?
I appreciate that touch rugby etc etc is the best way forward instead of nancy boy things like nets, but shouldn't you be creating an atmosphere as close as possible to the real thing ?
As for producing better players of spin, shouldn't we start by actually producing some spin bowlers for the batsman to practice with ........
Wonder what would happen if England had a domestic 50 over competition that gave them practice for International matches

I cancelled my club membership at the end of the 2010 season but still received this magazine, mind you i also still receive other postings as well ......

Didn't you watch that game Crowie ?
Archiving is obviously a simple way to sort the problem, after all it's been done two or three times that i'm aware of
The problem with this messageboard is that anything that's done always seems to be on a firefighting basis rather than being planned
Crikey Sharkey, what is your problem ?
Contract negotiations are a private affair between player and club, undoubtedly the results will be announced when BOTH parties have come to an agreement
Would you like your private discussions made available to all and sundry ?
Here's a cricinfo article that mentions Riki Wessels, among others, and explains his situation a little further
A point of interest with him is that he is listed by cricinfo as English, not Australian and not South African and has stated a number of times his intention to qualify as English
I think the dismissal of him as a player is rather unfair, he's scored runs and has a fair reputation as a keeper, why would a team like Nottinghamshire sign him if he has no potential ?
As far as his 'Entrepreneur Visa' goes he will remain unique as this loophole has been plastered and wallpapered over by the ECB
I guess it may have been helpful of me to actually give the link to said article, so .....
