He's the lesser known of the fringe Pakistani bowlers but seems pretty decent when I've seen him

Sehwag signs for Northants to play t20!

Northants have also signed Zimbabwean A/R Elton Chigumbura as an overseas & Lancs 2nd XI Batsman leggie Vishal Tripathi.
And Stuart Clark wont be joining Kent as their o/s player for the 1st half of season as they have concerns over his fitness.
Tino Best having a spell as Yorkshires overseas player though would consider becoming a Kolpak if the right offer came along.
someone said Sami had joined Somerset but I have not seen anything .
Best to Yorks I thought April 1st was next week . Best would not qualify as a Kolpak unless he has a British wife.

This illustrates perfectly how difficult finding suitable overseas players is. Mind the windows Tino.

Most of the windows round Headingley are already broken
Can't quite see Tino pleasing the Yorkshire faithful somehow......
Tino isnt much cop though, is he - dont think he even does much in WI domestic cricket - perhaps TC can tell us
Tino ,affectionately known as Worst in WI, is indeed a spent force and can no longer make the Barbados team. He has little control and is expensive, getting few wickets,
Strangely Corey Collymore did not make the Barbados side either.
Top seamer in the recent regional series was Pedro Collins who is still very effective with the new ball. Fidel Edwards and jerome Taylor are still unfit and so it was Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul against Zimbabwe with Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy as back upseamers.
I really havent seen anybody worth signing...Sammy is not quick but like Pedro ,Dwayne s and Collins he can actually swing the ball and get wickets.

Looked up Tino on cricinfo. As he played for WI 3rd team( top players were on strike) v Bangladesh last July, those 2 Tests plus 3 back in June 2005 means he has 5 Tests in last 5 years so can play as an OS or Kolpak this season . He would only be available in 2011 if he played 3 Tests in the next 12 months or married a Uk passport holder.
If Yorks have signed him , and like Sami to somerset I have not seen anything, then CC
really is reaching the bottom of the barrel with OS players.
If Sussex were signing him I would be very unhappy. Surely you only sign OS players if they are better than what you have .
I agree Steve that you would only sign an overseas or Kolpak bowler if they are better than what you have,
Without call ups we have
Collymore,Anyon,Martin Jenkins, Kirtley,Liddle,Aga,Chadwick,Young etc.
If you play 4 seamers then Collins,Tino ,Sammy etc may indeed get a pick.Certainly I would be forced to Pick two spinners and three seamers only. But if one of those three broke down???
Just a season ago we though Warwicks had the most toothless attack .But now they have Naqqash Tahir,Boyd Rankin and Chris Woakes and could afford to let Jimmy Anyon go.
If you discount the two young ones, maybe Anyon could be the surprise package. For me it is Liddle who has all the attributes but it really is make or break time for him.
Brett Lee should be available all Summer
Is Best going to be much of an improvement on Patterson / Lee / Hannon-Dalby I suspect not?
Chadwick is only on trial. Young is only on an Academy plus contract.
In the event we had the six contracted seamers SPSL has listed I would go with Collymore, Anyon and Martin-Jenkins and two spinners. It seems to have gone very quiet on Rana.
Can we afford Brett Lee though TC? If we could I suspect we would have looked at him already?
We need Anyon and Panesar to perform. While Rayner, Martin-Jenkins and Collymore are steady performers they are not likely to take 50 wickets next season.
As for Sami I doubt this will happen as Somerset are broke. So much so they cannot even afford to sign a reserve keeper and will be relying on Jos Buttler, who primarily is regarded as a batsmen but has kept wicket for Somerset at Junior level!

Well Sharkey he does have 221 first class wickets at 26.8 and does bowl quick.I dont rate him but who are these people who he is not much better than? how many wickets have they got at what cost?
Would you have been happy if Sussex had signed him? He may have taken 221 wickets @ 27 however that will count for very little if he bowls a heap or tripe for Yorkshire! I doubt they will be shy in expressing their views towards him if he isn't producing the goods! ![]()

Tino Best played in the Staffordshire League last year for Leek and eventually banned from the league for the season for bowling beamers and abusing umpires. Its also worth adding he didnt take many wickets. (Mushtaq the season he signed for Sussex played in the league and took 100+ in the second tier) Other notable players who have played are both Morkels, Alfonso Thomas played in the league for years before Warwickshire kolpakked him. Justin Kemp, Dinesh Mongia all of whom had success whereas Tino was ordinary and his attitude was dreadful!
still nothing on Best or Sami signing .
Pedro Collins was released by surrey as he did not qualify as a Kolpak . Is he going to be an OS for Middx?.The qualifying rules are the same for kolpak and Os. He has played 5 Tests since 31 March 2005 so could I suppose still be eligible !!!
This makes the rules a complete and utter farce.
to answer myself Collins has signed as aKolpak and Surrey meerly released him last year .
As he has played 5 tests since 31 March 2005 he should be a kolpak for this year only.
SPSL - They merely released him. Nothing to do with not being eligible as a Kolpak player.
cricinfo confirms the Tino Best to Yorks . Harris has not been picked for Australia's 2020
so Best may only play in April whilst Harris is playing IPL
At present only 3 counties will not have an OS at the start Kent , Northants and us although Kent are about to sign someone. So why are we being left behind ????
Breaking news on BBC says that Sehwag has had his permission to join Northants rescinded.
Looks as though the BCCI is out to get its revenge for the Raj ......
With odi in Zimbo and Asia cup he is going to be unavailable for Northants just like Dilshan wont be available for us .
Oh yes India are getting their revenge for the raj , the destruction of our game .
Chawla not coming to Surrey and India are not allowing any one to play here this season .
Poor old Surrey.
