Re: Other counties

Nearly 33, probably got a couple of years left maximum, good big hearted bowler who give it his all. Could do a job.

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?

Re: Other counties

Could form a useful new ball partnership with Amjad if we are not to go down the overseas route.

Not likely to leave as he has a benefit next year.

Re: Other counties

I see he talks about playing in Div 1, but Kirby has 'Surrey' written all over him for me.

Re: Other counties

Surrey boys on Ovalworld aren't keen on Kirby.

Re: Other counties

Surrey have released Afzaal

Re: Other counties

Thought they did that a couple of weeks back.

Re: Other counties

It was certainly being discussed on Ovalworld, but Surrey have only just made a formal announcement.

Re: Other counties

Is Afzall the type of expericenced batter we would want if we continue to lsoe Yardy amd Wright next season?

Re: Other counties

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

are you testing some sort of illicit concoction Asdf? It would be extremely difficult to imagine a worse signing as far as I'm concerned.

Please note the question mark!  mad

Re: Other counties

No to Afzaal and Kirby!   mad

Re: Other counties

Has there ever been a signing or potential signing that you actually approved of, Sharkey?

I can tell youve thought deeply about this, Sharkey.

Re: Other counties

Wouldn't mind Kirby - he took 64 Championship wickets @22 last year.

Not so keen on Afzall, although he scored 1200 runs plus in 2009 @ 57 odd. I've never been impressed by him for some reason - perhaps because he reminds me of Inzamam, in that he doesn't seem to be particularly energetic?

Re: Other counties

according to my Derby mate Kirby is joining Somerset, Wagg to Notts and Sidebottom to Hants .We will see.

Re: Other counties

Not that I doubt your mate, but it would seem that Yorks or Lancs is the likely destination for Sidebottom, only because his family is based in the north.  I guess it depends how much Hampshire are offering

All three seem sensible suggestions although why Hampshire need another left arm seamer when they already have James Tomlinson and Chris Wood is a mystery to me. Yorkshire or Lancashire would make more sense from a family point of view. Yorkshire are supposed to be going for an overseas bowler which is a surprise when you have someone of the calibre of Jacques Rudolph as an overseas batsman but who will no longer be eligible as a Kolpak player from 2011. Surely signing Rudolph and Sidebottom would make more sense.

Elsewhere Kent are set to go with a 15 man squad and no overseas player!

Ball
Blake
Coles
Cook
Denly
Goodman
Jones
Joseph
Key
Mahmood
Nel
Northeast
Shaw

7 seamers, 5 batsmen and a keeper. That leaves just two places to be filled (one of which has to be a spinner) and if you assume Blake, Coles, Cook, Denly, Jones, Joseph, Key, Mahmood, Northeast are all selected two starting XI places still to be filled.

Re: Other counties

NOTTS RELEASE SHAFAYAT AND WOOD

Shafayat averages 30 / Wood 32.9 - worth a look ?
