Re: Other counties

I  was looking at a couple of other sites at the weekend and on the Kent one they  desperately want a seamer or 2 as well. I only mention this as we all know if a half decent seamer became available several counties would be in for him. I quote half decent as the only decent english seamers in CC last season were

Harmison Onions Plunkett  Thorp ( Claydon and Davies half decent)
Sidebottom Broad Anderson Hoggard and I suppose Cork.

The rest are what I call half decent Ali Woakes Tremlett Mahmood Tomlinson  Trego.

DIV 2

half decent   Wagg Lewis Kirby, Khan when fit ,Finn Evans Murtagh and I suppose Lucas of Northants otherwise Crowie will have a whinge.

I may have missed one or two but take away the current England attack plus the whole of Durham and the cupboard of quality is threadbare

If just 2 of those became available at least 8 counties would be in the chase so we may have to see Liddle Aga and Sandri !!!

Stating the bleeding obvious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Other counties

Having put my list above, which I picked out of my head ,I then looked  at the averages and there are a few more half decent  names in Div 1 with 30 odd wickets I  have excluded. The Div 2 is fairly accurate not much more to add except I do not follow Middx as Evans only played 1 game!!

PS  I am saying Div 1 bowlers with 30 wickets are  ok but Dwayne , who is basically a part timer until the last 3 matches took 25!!

Re: Other counties

The following took thirty of more first class wickets this season:

Onions
Kirby
Harmison
Lucas
Plunkett
Murtagh
Lewis
Willoughby
FINN
van der Wath
WOAKES
Wagg
Hoggard
Masters
Mason
Adams
HARRIS
Mahmood
Shahzad
Hall
Wright
Anderson
Tahir
Rankin
Dernbach
Khan
Chapple
Thomas
Harris
Thorpe
Broad
Groenewald
Hogg
Cook
Jones
Groenewald
Kruger
Griffiths
Bresnan
Wigley
Sidebottom
Newby
Stiff
Tomlinson

Finn, Woakes and Harris look like the best three seamers out of those listed above.

Re: Other counties

presume your list excludes our bowlers?  chawla and colly took 36 and 33 with chawla's haul from only six matches.

life member - you're stuck with me!

Yes it does but Chawla isn't a seamer! We need seamers not spinners!

Re: Other counties

Has Shahzad decided what he's doing?

No we need a wicket taker, weather a spinner or seamer.

Re: Other counties

I dont think Shahzad has decided anything, although the most likely outcome is that he stays at Yorkshire - a player we could do with though (but would be up against quite a few counties)

Re: Other counties

I thought I read that he (Shahzad) was supposed to be going to Middlesex ?

Re: Other counties

Moore is definately leaving Worcestershire (Lancs the favourites).  I thought Shahzad was staying at Yorks.

Good luck to Lancashire if they sign him as I don't think there is a more overrated batsman in county cricket!

Re: Other counties

Agree - if anything, he should have had a clause the other way round

Re: Other counties

Good news Kim he is not joining Warwickshire!

Lancs lose Loye and gain Moore. Do the math

Re: Other counties

Chris Silverwood is discussing with Northants about signing for them on a 2 year contract.

Re: Other counties

Warwickshire target Shazad joins every other Warwickshire target for the last 5 years and says "LOL! Im staying where I am for at least another 3 years". mad

"Chris is under contract to Hampshire but is a player who would interest us should he become available,” said Surrey’s managing director Gus Mackay.

“But any move on that would have to come from him.”

What exactly do you have to do to be guity of tapping up in cricket?

Re: Other counties

I think we can take it as read that Anyon, Logan, Herath and Elliott won't be playing for Surrey next year given the scathing criticism in this article.

Re: Other counties

Anyon certainly wont be. He's in limbo really.

Re: Other counties

Kim - Is Anyon under contract at Warwickshire or has he been released? Who have you released?

Re: Other counties

Anyon has another year but has been given permission to talk to other counties. So if he cant find a new home he stays.

We released Navdeep Poonia and a young spinner called Chouhdry. Im not that hopeful that either will find another county. Frost has retired and gone back to being a groundsman.

Piolet has been offered a two year extension as has our superb young keeper, Johnson.

Re: Other counties

Kim, have you got Tahir sown up for a few years?
