Re: Other counties

Article in The Sun, I know, I know, about Harmison signing a new 4-year deal for £600,000. Although the Durham Chief Exec is only quoted as saying they've shaken hands on it.

It lists the top CC earners:

£160k Mark Ramprakash (Surrey)
£150k Steve Harmison (Durham)
£140k Stephen Moore (Lancs)
£130k Stephen Davies (Surrey)
£130k Owais Shah (Middx)
£125k Ed Joyce (Sussex)
£120k Marcus Trescothick (Somerset)

Is Moore really worth £140,000? It starts to make Panesar £75,000 look good value!

Re: Other counties

At least we know why Davies and Moore left Worcs. If Kolpaks do get finished then the younger talented english lads are going to get hugh offers from the rich teams like Lancs
Surrey etc.to tempt them.

Re: Other counties

Will Jefferson has signed a one year contract with leicestershire while Boeta Dippenaar has returned to South Africa leaving them only 3 non english players next year.

Re: Other counties

We think we have problems with recruitment etc well just look at poor Worcs. With the exception of Solanki all their quality players have left , well Kabir hasn't yet left. But looking on their site they are not discussing Kolpaks as they do not have any or OS as they are not bothering next year. And it looks like they are about to sign a new bat Stubbings ,released by Derby.

Well, well

Re: Other counties

Wow that is interesting. If they wanted a like for like signing to replace Naved they couldn't do better. Think he will put his slightly disappointing spell for Surrey behind him and do well for the Yorkies.

Re: Other counties

This is a good signing for Yorkshire. Personally I am not botherd that he is out of the equation for us as I still feel he was somewhat responsible for the shananingans at the beginning of the last season.

What however it does show is that counties are lining up there o/s players now and if we are not carefull Chwala, Yasir or AN Other will be picked up by another county.

Re: Other counties

Im pretty sure Chawla is on Warwickshires radar.

Re: Other counties

And I think Lancashire's to and thats without Surrey getting involved. As I understand it from posts on here he is pretty keen to stay but I suppose he would like his future sorted out sooner rather than later.

Re: Other counties

Let me see if I have this right.Dwayne Smith cannot get a work permit because he hasnt played a test in the last two years and only has 71 ODIs and ten tests, the last in 2007.

Ryan Harris can play because he is 30 and has played one ODI and no tests.

Triple Century

Re: Other counties

Maybe Sussex should use some of the indiian cash to back Dwayne in a challenge agaionst his non Kolpak status.

Re: Other counties

Breaking news on the BBC that Rob Key is staying at Kent.

One name crossed off the Surrey shopping list.

Perhaps Key has a lot of common sense & didn't like what he saw or do Surrey not have as much cash as possible?

I am sure Nashy will stay with us as well.

Re: Other counties

from the surrey messageboard :

Chris Adams Gus Mackay and Ian Salisbury, took part in a brief Q&A session at the SC Dinner last night with questions from a floor keen to see what was being done to help Surrey return to the pinnacle of the English game. Highlights include:
* On the question of captaincy, Adams said that they were trying to recruit a suitable candidate to skipper in 2010, and Walters has been told that the job is only his if no appropriate candidate can be found...AND he can hold down a place in the 1st XI.

* Adams reckoned things may get worse on this score before they get better, but their plans are still based around home grown, (preferably Surrey grown), players forming the bulk of future Surrey 1st XIs.

* they may change the one-day kit from brown to a better colour

I think that they wanted Key as skipper, not sure Nash is any more suitable than Walters as skipper at this stage.

(there's another thread where people are declaring their love of the brown kit !!!)

Re: Other counties

Hampshire release trio

Wicketkeeper Tom Burrows, seam bowler Tom Parsons and spinner Chris Morgan have not been offered contracts for the 2010 season. This is hardly a surprise as England Under 19 trio Michael Bates, Chris Wood and Danny Briggs have been offered contracts for next year.

Re: Other counties

Rogers stays as Derby OS for another year , agood bat.

I see Somerset have released Omari Banks and given a contract to the leggie Munday.

Re: Other counties

Warwickshire have signed Imran Tahir, who played for Hants the last 2 seasons and are reported to be closing in on Varun Chopra who has rejected a new contract with Essex.

Re: Other counties

Well Imran Tahir would seem to be a good signing for Warwickshire - but as an aside - why is he allowed a work permit if he hasnt played any International cricket of any description - totally confused by all this

Im back to my whinge about it only seems to be Sussex players who arent allowed to play (Ryan Harris and Dwayne!)
