Re: Messageboard Jolly

well by that score, it would seem Paperboy would be unavailable for the Derby game - I think we are then left with Northampton, Leicester or Worcester or the 2 20/20 jaunts that Chris suggested - all 4 are ok for me with a slight problem for each -my preference is Northampton out of that lot, Leicester would sort of work also

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Not suggesting the 2 20/20 games as our jolly, just answering Daves queiry re one day games.
Northampton looks better than Leicester
Dunno what hotels and proximity of town centre is, Crowie will obviously know.

Re: Messageboard Jolly

It would be great to launch the season the way we mean to go on with a Jolly to Cardiff and when its raining we can always go and watch some rugby.

Other than that I favour Northampton although I also agree that it is not an especially mouth watering selection

I'm up for Cardiff...

Re: Messageboard Jolly

I might be able to use my considerable network of contacts to get you a good rate on some corporate style hospitality AND a decent hotel room. Some good eating and drinking establishments walking distance from the ground and you never know your luck....Juliet The Sun may even be playing in town!

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Crowie, I am sure you could arrange for them to play just for us!  wink

David

I am still flying a PA28

Re: Messageboard Jolly

I think my favoured venue is probably Northampton- as outside holidays and not the weekend.

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Yes - Northampton does look on - although we havent heard from Paperboy or Xian yet

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Xian isn't very well with the flu - I'm sure he'd appreciate a text message to cheer him up from any of you kind souls...

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Greetings all from Cairo where the locals have been kicking off all over the place because the Algerians knocked them out off the world cup. They managed to start a riot outside the Algerian embassy and I've even seen a car burning. roll
I've just managed to get online and see the fixtures.
Glamorgan on 9th April is out for me as I only get home from Oz the day before.

Gloucs in Bristol on 21st April is a possibility (followed by Worcs on Sun?).

Not sure yet about Northants on 18th May as I may be on my way home from the T20 WC in West Indies. But if I'm not asked to go I could manage go to Northants (I'll know in Jan).

Derby on 4th June is a no go due to a school reunion I'm arranging.

Middlesex at Uxbridge on 21st July is a possibility.

Leicester on 29th July I'm okay for.

Worcester 13th Sept, not sure if I'll be working or not.

Also if I don't go to the West Indies I'll be heading to Fenners for 2 or 3 days on 12th May.

So after waffling on, in a nutshell I'll almost certainly be going to:
Bristol on 21st April, Cambridge on 12th May, Uxbridge on 21st July, Leicester on 29th July, Whitgift on 9th August.
If any of these dates fit in with a jolly I'll be there!

I'll be online for the next couple of days, but head off on a Nile cruise from Monday for a week.

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: Messageboard Jolly

well Northampton still seems to be favourite - suggest we defer until Jan then think about firming this up

Re: Messageboard Jolly

I've just got off the phone to the Commercial Manager at Northants. He said he will be able to arrange a hospitality package (Box+bar facilities plus I think they have a deal with Premier Inns?) if you decide on going to the best ground in the country.  wink

Give him a call when/if you decide.

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Actually it was proper diagnosed pig-flu this time. Thanks for your concern. Think my immunity took a tonking from that beer and curry meet last saturday. Then the shock of seeing the Albion rip Southampton to shreds on the sunday! Alistair, is it any wonder I am always ill when I have bloody germ-ridden student scumbags from all over the country and beyond coughing and spewing their northern bugs all over me when Im out there just trying to earn an honest bob? Its more than a man can take,I can tell you.
As for the trip, Northants stands out for me, especially after Crowies' kind offer. Been there before, Utopia it aint, but its not Dantes inferno either. Derby or Leicester? Id rather spend a night in Helmand province...
May do Cardiff for a couple of days, weather permitting and will def be at the lovely Worcs if theres anything on it.

Infamy infamy, they've all got it infamy

Re: Messageboard Jolly

Hope you are better soon mate . That humour is still there despite the flu!!

Re: Messageboard Jolly

anyway - perhaps well use the quiz nite to firm this all up and and decide what we need to do but Northampton looks the best bet
