Surely Beer should get into the CC Ist team on merit; ie, if he is bowling well for the 2nds and in one-dayers... and Ollie and/or Monty are underperforming.  With young players knocking on the door the 1st XI must be a meritocracy, not a closed shop.

I agree Mentor. It's through his 2XI performances that I can see him getting in the championship team in the second half of the season when the pitches are turning. In the same way I expect Wells, Machan and Brown to be putting pressure on Gatting, Thornely and Hodd.

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

Quite agree. But it's an interesting point that, in the end, the answer to that question might be 'n/a'

i went for Gatting, but might be Thornely - so may not be a bowler at all

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

Thought that was a typo when I read that! Could be inspired. What do those two bowl??

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

i think theyre both dibbly-dobblers

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

Gatting is an off-spinner and Thornely is a medium pacer.

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

General question - do the new ECB incentive rules come into effect this season - and if I remember correctly doesn't that mean that we should be trying to play some under 23's (at the expense of the over 26's) ?

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

have we sined him?

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

He has been given an extended trial in the seconds.

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

Any updates on this chappie, and forgive me as I forget his name, the lad from Guernsey that joined the club in the summer.

Re: Michael Chadwick on trial

Chadwick has been playing for the seconds. In Hatchett, Adkin, Thorpe and Rollings we have four better seam bowling prospects. Tim Ravenscroft has played one game for the seconds scoring 3. Personally I think Jones and Endersby are better prospects.
