I can't remember whether it was 2004 or 05, but I did watch a terrific 40 over game at Grace Road where Leicestershire were cruising at around 190 for 1 and then lost their last 9 wickets for around 12 runs... Will House holding on to three huge skiers in front of the sightscreen at the Pavilion end.

Then despite losing regular wickets, we ground out the chase, mainly in ones and twos with Monty (mark 1) making a hundred, supported at the end by a certain Robin Martin-Jenkins, who hit the winning runs with a drive through the covers!

It was a C&G Trophy tie in 2002.  Leicestershire were 200/1 I think, but mucked around with their batting order to try and accelerate....and fell to pieces.  You forgot to mentione Billy Taylor's hatrick, the last of which was Devon Malcolm caught at long-on first ball!  Yardy took wickets as well, and then made a half-century, he being the key partner for Monty.

Can't believe the start. I suppose as a non test match county we will have points docked for a poor pitch.  smile

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Whats happening, I'm losing the plot man. Just switched onto the match thread, one down, two down whats going on? I seriously thought it was one of those message board japes that was perhaps going on a bit too long. Now having checked on Cricinfo, the match really did start on Tues. I was convinced it was a Wednesday start. Wait a minute, it isn't Weds is it?

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Rusty,

Andrew McDonald, Leicestershire's Aussie O/S player, is the danger with both bat and ball. So, getting him out cheaply augurs well. But with Hoggard injured, there's no reason why Sussex shouldn't put up a competitive score; and having Prior in the middle order offers added strength.

My view is, Sussex have a very strong bowling attack for LV2, which is being helped by early season conditions that favour the seamers.

85/6 at lunch. What a great start smile

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Will Leicestershire reach 3 figures?  91-8. smile

The only downside is Rana is giving away no-balls like confetti. At present, the second highest score for Leicestershire.

9 down now, absolutely brilliant bowling performance.  100-9 smile

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

He's putting every ounce into his bowling, S&F...  when you rip through another 4 batsmen, some no-balls are hardly a problem!

Anyway, that's why we put them in!!

I hope that we don't collapse ourselves...  there will be a load of Gloucestershire supporters braying for the pitch inspectors to be called in.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Is the pitch OK? We don't  want Birkenshaw coming down and dishing out a fine to us I assume it is pooe batting against good bowling in favourable conditions for seamers. Can someone confirm please?

114 all out a great bowling performance- 3 innings in a row and no bowling for Monty! He must be dying to get at them.

Real chance for our batters to put on a 400+ score.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

great stuff by the boys - mentors on fire at the moment - this time why the hell are we bowling!
big innings coming up though - must grind them into the dust - need 250 +

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

we are silly good this year, honestly removing my Martlett Sunglasses we would win Div 1 this year. Gawd help em when we get Wright / Yards / Joyce back !
As i've said earlier, its absurd we're in this Div, hence all my moaning when we went down as I know how good we are.
I envisage we're go to the Oval in early August to pick up the Class B Pennant

now counted back 8 generations from the Martlett Kingdom

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Nash and Anyon opening the batting.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Or is it Thornley and Anyon???

Definitely Anyon and Thornely, radio commentary suggesting something must be up with Nash.  sad

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

19-1 Thorners gone.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Highly frustrated as work IT won't let me look at the argus live blog and obviously no radio commentary. Can someone post when either have some definite news on why we're opening with Anyon. Must be pretty serious happening with Nash for us not to just promote Gatting.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

the Argus on-line thing doesnt work for me either, by the way. i can only assume Nash sustained an injury or has an illness

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Muzza has dropped down the order as well?

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

I hope it isn't serious or the elephant in the room will reach mammoth proportions
