Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Damn, well peeved I can't get to the ground today.

Another excellent performance by our seamers who really are bowling as a unit this year.

Jimmy Anyon opening the batting hmm . Hope Nash is not seriously hurt or ill.

Or is it just psychological warfare on Murray Goodwin's part? smile

Jimmy Anyon opening the batting??????????????????????????????????????????????? roll  mad

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

a very good start to proceedings, though we need a commanding score in order to grind them down, something in the region of 300+ would be most well recieved. smile
and does anyone know anything about Anyon opening? A secret ploy or is Nasher injured/ill.

What have the commentators being saying about Anyon opening? Is he the ultimate night watchman sent in to just stick there until the conditions have improved when the stroke makers may  come to the wicket? With an average of under 12 and a top scoreof 37 he hardly strikes me as the obvious new Boycott - perhaps he is. Perhaps he will soon take over from Cook in the openers slot. All very bizarre.

I think Muzza sees something in Anyon's batting. To be fair he's looked at home and has played some nice shots.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

I spoke to Paperboy at the ground and Nash wasnt on the field for the first two overs after lunch, but came on for last three overs of the Liecester innings.
Purely a guess but missing after lunch but the appearing may indicate a "dicky stomach", so perhaps dropping down the order to allow it to settle.

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?

Paperboy is at the ground and not posting??

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

They had Cottey on earlier. He said that Robbo felt that we had no other real openers and John Lees added that Robbo always liked to have a left/right combination at the top of the order. At that point though, they thought we were opening with Nash and Anyon and the theory was we wanted to protect Thornley. No news yet on Nash.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

he is batting at 4???

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

61/2. Nash is in now

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

nash out!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Nash out for 4.
On Sussex's facebook page (not a totally reliable source, i know), it says that Nasher wasn't fielding during the foxes innings because he has a migraine so he didn't open the batting. Therefore, Sussex decided to send in Anyon instead.
As i said, not a reliable source but it's all i've got at the moment.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

I actually like the idea of an experimental opener in early season. Perhaps the thinking is that the attacking play of Nash in the middle order gives us extra depth. Looking at our biggest totals and the other counties there is definitely something to be said for trying to get through the first 40 overs and wait for it to stop swinging.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Pitch inspector on his way to Hove?

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Migraine sounds plausible and maybe he was out of sorts when batting hence the low score. On the plus side, looks like we have a tail ender who can bat a bit. Anyon hasn't got previous for any batting exploits. Highest first class score is 37. Nothing like a tail ender giving it some humpty at the fag end of an innings and annoying the hell out of the attack. Something Lewry could do with good effect at times.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

who's are the kids i keep hearing on the web?

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

4 down. Anyon 32. 82 on the board. Need a decent partnership now.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Anyone at the ground able to post on how Anyon is batting. Has he been lucky?

Otherwise, the bare stats are that a number nine and makeshift opener with a highest first class score of 37 is the highest scorer of the day so far. If it's not luck and down to concentration and graft on Anyon's part then the number of wickets to fall maybe has less to to with the pitch and more to do with decent bowling/some poor batting

matts gone not looking good

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

only a 100 run lead reqd ! Skipper still there no problems

now counted back 8 generations from the Martlett Kingdom

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Must be tough batting outthere today. 100 lead would be a minumum, but, we are dropping too many batting points at the moment.

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Hodd gone for 0. LBW. Having a wretched time with the bat. 112-6

Re: Sussex v Leicestershire LVCC2 Hove 27 April - 30 April

Pitch inspector required for 15 wickets...however umpires are satisfied according to Argus blog

6 down and we need 150 more
