Poor b****** cann't handle the 90 min commute down the M3 a few times a year.
He must be heading Griz's way - I don't think Middx can afford him

Please let it be Surrey, if ever a club and player were made for each other ![]()
Im pretty sure he isnt going to Surrey. Its Middlesex.

i think he should pay a county to have him in return for access to nets, etc
im sure Middlesex fans will be looking forward to his next five appearances as long as they can wait till the year 2020
The bloke's a....well I won't say, but just remember two words as Sussex fans.......Peter Moores.
With his attitude hed be perfect for slurrey
Why does Pietersen have to join a county club? The ECB reiterated this week that a player doesn't need to be a county player to be in the England team. And why would a county want KP, if he's never going to play a game for them.

Good questions...can you remember who threw his kit off the dressing room balcony at Notts? The reality is he is a prima donna.
However 1.With an England central contract you get him free or even make a profit.
2.He needs a place to train and have nets and call home even if not playing
3.Strauss is his England Captain so obviously will be supportive and persuade Middx to take him. They can share rest periods.
tc,
I'm a KP nut, so be careful what you say.
You make some valid points. My own, is that Pietersen doesn't have to join a club, if he wishes not to. But for mere convenience, Surrey and The Oval is the obvious choice, as it's closer to his Chelsea home (approx 1.5 miles away) than Lords and easier to get to. I'm sure Grizz would jump at the chance.

With his hard work and striving for excellence he would be perfect for Sussex, but I think he'll sign for Middlesex
but dave even you must admit he is totally useless for a county as he just has no interest in it
Different for a county if he retires from ODIs after the next world cup though. Which would make sense. Then he is available more - and is a better bet for T20 than an equally expensive, but retired player, like Gilchrist, both as a player and as box office.
If there's one player who could do with playing some county cricket it's KP I feel. The big 150's have long gone and he now struggles to get past 40.
I think it would have been good for him to miss the last Test series and play six county games on the spin to learn how to build his innings once more.
He lives in Chelsea so I presumed he will be joining Surrey myself.

I'm not sure it's quite that simple. It's not as if it will cost the county much money, even if he doesn't play much his presence in the nets it would be beneficial for younger players. Mike Atherton often states the public perception of KP is very different to the reality, that on tour he spends the most time working with the local youngsters and is unfailingly polite
At Notts it ended with his kit being chucked out the pavilion and told where to go .
Hants have not treated him like that as they only see him about 1 day ayear .
There is only one team on the planet who could suite him . Surrey of course
The man is a legend...by far and away the best batsman in England in all forms of the game.
I would sign him up immediately, but unfortunately hove is at leat half an hour from Chelsea. ![]()
good for them. He probably wouldn't have been able to find Canterbury anyway.

All for this, this is really good for the county game and the sport, i think. what an example for kids growing up in cricket with the modern money grabbing game. you can swan around making millions but when you come crying back for a bat, good luck! well done Hampshire!
whilst you can see how this has happened, and mindful that Kp has no real affinity towards his club or probably even county cricket as a whole, I wouldnt like this to happen generally in county cricket - I would hate us to tell our England players that they couldnt paly, for example - it also creates a potential dangerous rift between club and country
I know I am slightly obsessive about this but cricket is a stats game and tabloid heroes though they undoubtedly are, Figjam and to a lesser extent Flintoffs' stats only mark them out as decent, but by no means out of the ordinary test performers. Agree Flintoffs bowling figs did not do him justice but all you Figjam worshippers, maybe you can tell me what the best Test ranking this amazing KP reached? He was in the 20s last time I looked.
I think there is only one Figjam worshipper and thats the man himself, Xian!
