Re: KP & Hampshire

On K P he has not come through any count acedemy he doesnt relate county cricket,he walked out on S.A well done to hampshire for not playing him despite the suits at the ECB saying play him.The man is just a bad egg with no loyalty to anybody

Re: KP & Hampshire

I think we may have an interesting story developing here. KP has burnt his bridges with Hampshire and stated that the travelling down the M3 from Chelsea to Southampton is too much for him.
He's indicated that he wants to play in London which obviously means either Middlesex or Surrey.

Surrey have said that they aren't interested in KP, and Gus Fraser hasn't shown an public interest in signing him on at Middlesex.

Journalist Paul Newman wrote on 12th August in his Mail Online column:

The Kevin Pietersen county plot thickens. England make him available for Twenty20 finals day, then Hampshire say no thanks.

Fair enough, but it’s what comes next that is fascinating. Andy Flower says KP must join another county next season as a condition of his central contract even though he would rarely be available. Middlesex are said to have cooled on the idea of signing him, which may create a problem as Pietersen said he wants to leave Hampshire because he lives in Chelsea. He can hardly sign for Durham after saying that.

Could Surrey stretch to signing both Pietersen and Eoin Morgan? Or is he heading for ‘homeless’ status and conflict with England? I can’t see why he cannot be ‘unattached’ and seconded to a county when he needs practice.

If this is true and neither Surrey or Middlesex are interested I would imagine next in line for consideration would be joining Sussex. With his England contract he would arrive free of charge and play a few one day games for us as well as posing for a few posters.

Is anyone prepared to offer any odds on KP being in a Sussex shirt for our team photo next April?

Should he need a taxi I'm sure Xian44 would be happy to run him over. Sorry, I meant run him home!

Chelsea to The Rosebowl on the AA route planner is 1 hour 42 mins (77.7 miles)
Chelsea to Hove on the AA route planner is 1 hr 30 mins (52.1 miles).

At least that would give him an extra 24 minutes each day.

Does anyone have any ideas how he might use that time?

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: KP & Hampshire

As I believe his host county gets a cut of his IPL contract, I'd be happy for him to use us as a flag of convenience on a year by year basis as long as he promised to never actually turn up.

Re: KP & Hampshire

I would be shocked and stunned to see KP lining up for Sussex next season. I would give 500/1 if I was Paddy Power.

Re: KP & Hampshire

I would consider supporting Kent if he joined us!

Re: KP & Hampshire

Supposing no county comes in for him? What a laugh. Maybe a county should be paid an incentive to take him, like fulfilling a council disabled quota.

Re: KP & Hampshire

Maybe he should join the Unicorns ?

I'd invest at that price. Its not that far fetched.

Re: KP & Hampshire

It seems Angus Fraser at Middlesex wants KP. The club is an obvious choice and not too far from where he lives.

Re: KP & Hampshire

It looks like we're safe to renew our Sussex memberships for next season.

Figjam chats to Middlesex

Re: KP & Hampshire

Pity - he would have been a useful addition to our 2nd XI !

Re: KP & Hampshire

Thank god for Middlesex.
I'd rather see Cork, Keedy and errr Pol Pot in a Sussex shirt, lets not forget the hatchett job he did on Moores.

Re: KP & Hampshire

He should get to spend a lot of time playing for Middlesex after the 'performances' he has put on vs. Pakistan this summer - no doubt he will get a century in the myriad one-dayers coming up and it will all be forgotten by the selectors.

As Leigh mentioned at Horsham, the International Bowling Fraternity have found him out.

First of the current crop of players to go full time IPL and nothing else?

Re: KP & Hampshire

chairman rod bransgrove at hampshire loves larger than life characters and celebrity.

he has done masses for the likes of chris and robin smith (rod bought a restaurant off me for chris), cork  and shane to name but a very few.

kp is the sort of person that rod should take to his heart  but even he hasn't. nuff said.

life member - you're stuck with me!

It took until he got 5,000 Test runs until anyone 'found him out'.  I'd say it's more to do with bad form and virtually every batsman in the series has looked ordinary on both sides.  Personally I don't see why any county wouldn't want KP's registration as a player but I am in the minority I guess

Test runs are not as convincing a stat anymore when we play teams such as Bangladesh & the West Indies.   I admit I don't like the man because he has the talent but absolutely no application - still think he will be the first IPL only Player....

He hadn't played against Bangladesh until this year and didn't do particularly well.  It's not as if the history of cricket has been devoid of rubbish teams anyway.  Personally I preferred when he was a bit of a showboater who just tried to dominate but he's gradually been worn down into almost becoming another mediocre English batsman.

Yes, worn down by the fact that his technique is flawed and international bowlers(especially left-arm spinners) have worked him out!

Infamy infamy, they've all got it infamy

Re: KP & Hampshire

Probably a move to Sussex is what he needs smile ...should give Thornley some competition.

Re: KP & Hampshire

At least with that woman shoving a Cat in a wheelie bin Coventry, Figjam is now the 2nd most hated person in England  smile

Re: KP & Hampshire

How about we sign him and then not pick him when available  smile

I should think the woman who urinated on the cenotaph in blackpool is the 1st, KP is down to 3rd now.

To be honest, I think I could give Thornely some competition.  He would probably learn quite a bit from someone of KP's quality, but I guess I'm banging my head against a brick wall

Re: KP & Hampshire

Seriously some of these comments are silly...KP is Englands best batsman ,paid for by ECB,his county get a cut of IPL and his occasional help.Who wouldnt want him... smile
