Topic: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Bl**dy hell - CC, pro40, 20-20 and now back to CC. At least there's a two day breather  hmm .

Can't even think straight - who should we pick? I guess Monty's in with a shout?

McCullum?

Hopefully Tucker's fit

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

important game this. sussex have to play like they did against gloucester and middlesex and show there's no hangover.

side depends heavily on whether the pitch takes spin and whether luke is fit to bowl.

Nash
Yardy
Joyce
Goodwin
Thornley
Wright
Hodd
Yasir
Rayner/Hatchett/Anyon
Panesar
Collymore

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

so the big question mark must be on the fitness of Luke and whether he can bowl - might be worth giving him a rest to get him back to full fitness. Is he worth a 4 day place as a batsman alone? That then raises question marks on balance of the team. Certainly think we must persist with the spin attack of Rayner & Panesar, and then Yasir & Corey will surely play. So do we then go with extra bowler or batsman if Luke doesnt play? I suppose the other main issue is who keeps?

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Luke would be ahead of Thornley and gatting as a batsman. So I would play him anyway.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

No doubts about Luke as a batsman ...the 152 in the last game should convince.

I think we go in unchanged from the Middx game if all are fit.

This is real cricket folks...lets forget that other stuff

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

so you would have Hatchett over Yasir, TC? - seems unlikely

usual suspects --- no room at the inn for beer

life member - you're stuck with me!

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

well were not going to play 3 spinners thats for sure!

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

got a feeling luke won't play. would certainly pick him as a batsman but can't see sussex or england wanting him fielding for long periods with a dodgy knee, regardless of whether he can bowl or not.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

It never rains but it pours - Monty is apparently very doubtful for the Leicester match according to the press release.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Wants's wrong with Monty? That is really bad news if he can't play.

At least the fielding will improve without him lol  yikes  big_smile

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

I see Brown had a good run.  Can't believe we've gone back to Hodd already, you have to give a lad more than two games.

I can't imagine a time when Beer will get a call-up to the first team, not ours anyway.  Hopefully Hatch will keep his place but I won't hold my breath.

Panesar is doubtful so Arafat in for him and Hodd in for Prior will probably be the side, I think we'll stick with Hatch.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Given that Brown's contract ends this season, the lack of opportunities in the 1st XI doesn't augur well for his Sussex future; coming on the back of an out of form and recently injured Hodd.

Meanwhile, an interesting Monty batting stat.

"Now the stumps have asked for pads!"
(Aussie radio commentator Kerry O'Keeffe as Rahul Dravid, bowled six times in seven innings during the present series, walks out to bat at the Adelaide Oval)

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Augur?  Put your thesaurus down S&F, it doesn't impress me.  Meanwhile, It's none of my business where Brown comes, I just care about his cricket.

Now knowing that his contract is nearly up makes it an even stranger decision; maybe Robbo's seen enough.  I think he'd be wrong though.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

I heard that Hampshire are interested in Brown

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

I would be amazed if Robbo has seen enough - as i see it there is not much to choose between the two keepers and you can only choose one - both have scored runs in the seconds recently - Brown was very good in the pro 40 last week - his chances will come, if hes prepared to wait, but ultimately its not actually possible to keep both happy

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

I feel from what i have seen of brown keeping wicket it has been not as good as hoddys.
I really hope monty is passed fit ad is able to bowl with the rythm he has been finding also i would stick with lewis.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Hoory - back to some proper cricket again. I could not be happier that all this confounded T20 is all over. I have spoken recently with a couple of county players and it's perfectly obvious that the palyers, for the most part, have had enough of it too. Why on earth can't others understand this instead of trying to play more and more T20.

As for this game, what's up with Monty?  I was looking forward to him and Olly bowling in tandem again. Must be Yas and Colly and as for keepers, I feel inclined to stand by Hoddy. He's a decent keeper and has proved himself with the bat frequently. Would they consider ber if Monty doesn't make it or play another seamer? Seamer I guess.

I am so looking forward to my next outing to Hove - I've missed seeing you guys...!

Couldn't call myself a stick insect but now going in the right direction!

Money! It's def reached saturation point though. Is the T20 current format set in stone or will they re-jig it again for next season?

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Yardy (C), C Nash, Goodwin, Joyce, L Wright, Aga, B Brown (W), Arafat, Hatchett, Panesar, Collymore

Sussex won the toss and decided to field

Leics are 0/0 off one over

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

obviously hodd asked not to be selected in case it upset brown

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

I thought Hodd had an injury?
