Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Well done Hatchett

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Interesting listening on the radio, Robbo is saying that Hoddy isnt injured and that Ben Brown deserved to keep his place cos he did well in the previous two games.
Thorns left out tactically to include Luke as a batsmen, and Monty selected over Ollie cos they only needed one spinner

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Fantastic for Hatchett - well done - hope this gives encouragement to all of the Academy.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

here we go - good first two sessions not being built on as Joyce goes- 40/2

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Can we have a decent partnership by our top order for a change?

I wonder how many 100+ partnerships the first 6 wickets have produced this year? Very few I fear. Any ideas anyone?

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Looks like three.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

With the exception of Martin-Jenkins (629) and Goodwin (761) not many have done well with the bat. The next highest is Nash (398) and Thornley (314).

We need a batting coach me thinks

Glamorgan - Goodwin & Thornley 106
Surrey - Goodwin & Yardy 117
Gloucester - none
Leicester none (8th wicket Godwin & Naved 164)
Middlesex none
Northants none
Derbyshire - none (7th wicket Goodwin & RMJ 125)
Gloucester - none
Middlesex  - Goodwin & Joyce 111

5 century partnerships, all involving Murray - only 3 in the 1st 6 wickets

And of course 2 9th wicket stnds of 100+ bith with RMJ, one with Rana the other with Yasir

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

So for a century partnership we need Murray to stay there, according to the stats

Get maximum batting points and we will have a decnt lead to bowl at them 2nd time around - but not too sure of the weather forecast for the next few days!

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Well that's that then for a 100 partnership this innings with Murray gone

70/3

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

No RMJ down the order too. sad

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Thanks for partnership info Bexhillshark-not great reading.Batting has really been a disappointment this season. I think we need another batter for next year.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Well well well, after day in lovely Guildford working for Slurrey Police, a quick dive onto Cricinfo and we would appear to have found a young fast bowler!

Don't think this one is going to go 4 days unless we get a lot of rain...

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

absolutely delighted by Hatchett's five-for  - really promising for the future - need a decent lead here though

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

What a day for Hatchett. Trust they will give him a proper contract now!
The lad spent the winter down Crowies part of the world and took wickets in their Grade
crciket which suggested the lad could bowl.

Our batting looks light but I imagine Aga is seen as a better bat than Anyon thus he got a welcome game.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Lukey just gone, one over to go, 127-4

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

128-4 at the close, Nasher 52 no, Hatch 0 no
Pretty even I think, depends on 1st hour tomorrow.

Well done Martin, a very professional job as the summeriser on Radio Sussex smile  cool

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

After the excitement of Hatchett's performance and his first fifer, the top order batsmen let us down yet again. Poor old Yards would get bowled by a beach ball, given his present poor form. Pleased that Nash really knuckled down today for his 52*. So, 76 runs behind and 6 wickets left, but we have no experienced batsmen to come now RMJ has retired, so Sussex may be lucky to even pass 204.

I see this as a second innings winner takes all match.

"Now the stumps have asked for pads!"
(Aussie radio commentator Kerry O'Keeffe as Rahul Dravid, bowled six times in seven innings during the present series, walks out to bat at the Adelaide Oval)

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

As always, Sussex lose a vital wicket just before close of play. They should play their natural game right to the finish without worrying about how many balls are left. Disappointing to see Muzza and Ed depart after getting starts. Yards is clearly suffering from lack of time at the crease.
We have a long, long tail and could be all out for less than 180 if Nash goes early.

RMJ's early retirement could be the difference between winning promotion and just missing out. I hope I'm wrong!

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Why is Thornely not playing? I would have gone in with four bowlers and not played Aga.

I'm delighted to see Lewis take 5 wickets in just his second championship game. Perhaps this will make Robbo wake up and realise the seam bowling talent he has right under his nose! Hopefully it will give encouragement to the rest of the Academy boys.

Again the senior batsmen with the exception of Nash disappoint.  mad

Does that answer your question Mart, Luke isnt bowling.

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

yes hopefully Hatchett's achievements can get recognised with a contract straight away a bit like Gatting early last season.  Am a bit disappointed like a few others that Ollie's not playing - it may be a seamer's wicket but he has outclassed most of the 2nd team seamers in recent years and is doing a good job with the ball this season.

So Robbo should wake up and select 2nd team seamers, and the driver for this is picking 2nd team seamers  roll
Anyway well bowled Lewis, excellent start to what looks a promising career.

Shockingly I thought it was Robbo who had picked the team and fast tracked Hatchett into the first eleven in front of eg Anyon.I hadnt realised that Robbo was asleep and didnt know why Hatchett was selected.....

Re: CC Leics vs Sussex 27July

Hatch may have come in a bit earlier.  The point could be that the others are probably as good as Hatch, try them.
