Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

If I heard rightly, the tickets for Trent Bridge were £35, which is fair for 6 hrs of top flight cricket. At worst maybe £5 on the high side. £60 is ludicrous. The Pak v Oz T20s showed that there is a great market to be tapped in the area and the ground should be full.

As for £90/100, it is totally beyond belief. Not sure what the kids ticket price is but a family day out would be £400+ with travel and food. Not many people have that to blow in one day in the current financial climate, even if the match was likely to be a decent contest.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Sadly Paksitan are as bad as Bangladesh. This series is becoming a non event .

When growing up I was glued to Test matches but now apart from the Ashes I do not follow them don't watch them . Lets face it its on sky  right now and I couldn't give a toss.

Sadly it seems I am not alone . No one it seems cares about Tests other than the Ashes.

"No one it seems cares about Tests other than the Ashes."

Got the early August blues?  wink

The Test format is the flambe steak diane of cricket. I love Test cricket as I am sure like many on this BB. It's a five course meal with coffee and after eights to follow. Nothing can beat an absorbing 5 day game for sheer brilliance, variety and excitement. Pakistan are an exception rather than the rule.

Meanwhile, what has happened to Pietersen's batting? I've never seen such a charmed innings; almost like he has a leprechuan smiling behind his back. I blame it on KPs baby - all that lack of sleep and nappy changing. I hope Jessica doesn't want anymore children, otherwise, this could become a regular occurrence and rediscovering KPs form will be like searching for Bigfoot.

"Now the stumps have asked for pads!"
(Aussie radio commentator Kerry O'Keeffe as Rahul Dravid, bowled six times in seven innings during the present series, walks out to bat at the Adelaide Oval)

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

There are plenty of tickets available for the next test at The Oval. At the top end you can pay £85 in the Bedser Upper Open stand or £73 in the OCS Lower. The cheapest tickets are £46 in May Stand.
The biggest error the ECB has made is making Saturday the 4th days play.
I'm not sure what odds you'd get for a full days play on the Saturday.

Meanwhile despite the recession and shocking exchange rate, the number of England supporters going to Australia this winter is very encouraging.

From 2014 I have doubts that being a Sussex fan will continue to be the best sporting pleasure on the planet.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Pakistan bat worse than Bangladesh.  Test cricket is still king, and not just the Ashes, but this summer we've had Bangladesh and Pakistan, two of the worst sides on the circuit.  The interest will continue once we play a side that's a challenge.  I absolutely loved the recent SA v England series.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

I know there has been at least one unexpectedly exciting final day of a Test at Edgbaston in recent years, but £20 for adults for Monday's play is ridiculous - and somehow they still make these announcements as though they are treating us!

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

It is a shame really that Pakistan have so many problems at the moment - the inability to play home test matches, the instability in the squad that has badly affected their batting abilities - and now the dreadful flooding that is affecting large swathes of the country. I actually wonder if this tour will be completed if the situation deteriorates any further. Some of the Pakistani players must have family members involved in this disaster.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Can someone help me, I am working in London and was thinkg of stopping off at the Oval for the final hours play tonight.

Does anyone know whether I will be charged to get in at that time of day??

I'd be surprised if those tight gits at the Hoval/ECB would let anyone in free! No matter for how long or that you could spend a bit behind the bar...

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Matt saves the day again. 84*. Well supported by Broad who made 48. Not a great total (233) but something to work on. Credit to Pakistan.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Interesting that the England seamers are bowling pies this morning and the TMS lot wish there was a second classy spinner in the side to support Swann - does anyone know where one might be found? roll

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Happy with this defeat.  Keeps the series alive, happy for Pakistan, and was frankly getting a little p*ssed off with our over-confidence based on 6 wins against Bang and a rudderless Pakistan. Also, delighted after Colly's quotes before the series - t*sser.

Why did Anderson continually keep bowling round the wicket to the 2 left handers after he got the opener out early? Often he drifted down the leg side and the batsman clipped him off his legs for easy pickings, 4-0-26-1. Come over the wicket just to mix things up and have the ball delivered from a different angle

Agreed, but what did Colly say to rile you up?

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

The only thing missing from that article is that cricket balls are red and the Pope isn't Jewish... not a great series for Colly for sure, but not a great series for any English/Irish/South African batters

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

More irritating quotes, this time from Steve Finn:

"We've bowled Pakistan out for 72 and 80 so far, so there's a batting collapse waiting to happen."

"having Yousuf in the team doesn't make them a different team at all"

He's seems pretty articulate, Finn - you can see why he's being brought in for quotes. Shame whas he says is mostly a steaming barrel of dog t*rds.

This style of confidence is on the inrease. They're setting themselves up nicely for a big fall this winter.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

England lose 3 wickets in the first 13 balls this morning including a golden duck for Figjam. England 39-4.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

KP is woefully out of form. A spell in county cricket might do the trick. Oh he hasn't got a county. How much longer will they indulge him with these fantastic scores he keeps producing? Perhaps he will be more up to the task for the Ashes. Even Ramps wasn't given this much leeway when he was an England player.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Make that 47-5
