Pakistan bat worse than Bangladesh.  Test cricket is still king, and not just the Ashes, but this summer we've had Bangladesh and Pakistan, two of the worst sides on the circuit.  The interest will continue once we play a side that's a challenge.  I absolutely loved the recent SA v England series.

Nice little goatmouth...enjoying it now?

KP is woefully out of form. A spell in county cricket might do the trick. Oh he hasn't got a county. How much longer will they indulge him with these fantastic scores he keeps producing? Perhaps he will be more up to the task for the Ashes. Even Ramps wasn't given this much leeway when he was an England player.

Ramps never averaged 50 before his awful runs of form.  KP will be ok, although yes, I do think he should be playing for SA, before anyone pipes up.  I'm more concerned about Cook and Collingwood.

For the Aussies we should play six batsmen I think, with Colly out, Morgan at five, Prior at six, Bresnan at seven - and bring Lyth or Nashy in for Cook.

I don't know what a goatmouth is TC.  Is it that they are a challenge after all, cos it can't be that they bat worse than Bangladesh?

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

A goatmouth is a rash statement that causes the opposite to happen.

eg...Pietersen looks in awsome form ....will be followed by his immediate dismissal

Pakistan are dreadful and couldnt beat the blind scholl...will be followed by a Paskistan victory.

A bad team can be a challenge when playing a bad team?

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

So the challenge bit, cos it's come back and bit me on the arse!  Funny game cricket - Strauss could do know wrong when we were 2-0 up, now even his form is being questioned.

I'm gonna risk another potential goatmouth, as it were.  England will destroy Pakistan by over 100 runs in this match, because Pakistan cannot bat to save their lives.  KP and Strauss to get tons in the second innings.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Maiden century for Broad. Great stuff and excellent recovery by him and Trott.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Broad and dad Chris the first son and father combination to score Test tons for England.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Were they not saying earlier that his dad has never scored a test ton??

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

I think it was that Chris never got one at Lord's

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

I think his dad scored six hundreds in his 25 tests that he palyed in.

He scored centuries in three consecutive matches, in 1986, only the eighth Englishman at the time to have achieved this feat (four more have achieved it subsequently)

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

We really got us out of jail with those knocks. Not won or drawn yet but we should be strong favoutrites not to lose it.

I think this series would have been a different story if the first two hadn't been the thrid and fourth of a series of back to back tests for Pakistan. It was strange that those who were knocking Pakistan seemed to ignore what this, plus the fact that they had just taken a test of Oz, which is rarely easy.

I'm not saying they are a good side but they are only a batsman or two short of being a very respectable one. To consider them no better than Bangladesh is just laughable.

Only the third English no9 batsman to score a ton, the other 2 were Gubby Allen and John Murray according to the commentary. Perhaps he'll go on and get a double today or get out third ball.

I think Pat Symcox got a ton for S Africa batting 10.

Despite Broad's indifferent batting of late, maybe it's time to promote him to 8 to facilitate the potential for all rounder status.

Oh dear Ravenshill you're at it again.  You're clearly referring to what I said but once again you have failed to read what I said accurately.  "Pakistan bat worse than Bangladesh" not are worse fella.  If you think they bat better than Bangladesh, well it's a close call.  Is pretty laughable though, your constant swiping that is - falling short every time though.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Pakistan are clearly a talented but unpredictable side.Given their selection and discipline problems and the problems back home these wild swings in performance are not all that surprising.Their batting lacks experience and a collapse is often not far away.

Actually I wasn't. Didn't even know you had said that. It was more about some of the lower media and various things I have seen on the web.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

Oh dear, the BBC report someone has been arrested Re: a betting scam surrounding the present England v Pakistan Test.

I must admit, the way Yousuf got himself out in the second innings looked pretty dodgy to me. Let's see how this pans out. It may be nothing.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

The end for Pakistan...these incredible swings in form may be bribe induced.

Watching it on SKY now...incredible

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

I watched Amir bowl one of the worst no-balls I've ever seen yesterday, lets just say I didn't think all was OK!

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

If these allegations are founded, and the evidence to date looks compelling, what a sad day for test cricket and sport in general, and even worst, how sad for those poor people in Pakistan that have suffered from the terrible floods and loss of life .

How can they carry on with this match, series and the one day series to come, and should those names on the boards be removed?

On the plus side, Yards and Luke could stay with us for the run in

Who is that man talking to Schlidd ?

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

it would be a terrible shame if Mohammed Amir in particular has ruined his career - he could be one of the all-time greats

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

This story is unfolding very quickly. I could see the ODIs being cancelled which means we'll have both Yards and Luke for the final games.

Although, I don't believe this is a shock to cricket supporters. The Pakistan evidence has been mounting for some years. Well done to 'The News of The World' for finally breaking the scandal.

The tragedy is, the youngsters like Butt, Amir etc.. are really talented players with great international careers ahead of them. This scandal has sent them to the rubbish tip. It may take Pakistan cricket years to recover.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

The no balls look blatant now and the landing foot outrageously far beyond the line. It would also explain all the dropped catches. In fact this news is the first thing that makes sense this series.

There have been big oversteps in other tests this series too. At the time it just looked like incompetence but thinking about it now, it is hard to see how a bowler who has had his run up fine for previous balls can suddenly be a foot out by accident.

Re: Eng v Pakistan test series

I might have gone up there today if there were any trains running.

Betting has always been a problem for Pakistan.  I remember back in the 1970s the team spent most of their time in the betting shop when they weren't out in the middle.

People are very sad if they're betting on no-balls.
