2ND XI: Interesting final day in store for Championship clash16-Aug-2012
Sussex’s Second Eleven are set up for an interesting final day of their Second Eleven Championship clash with Hampshire at Horsham CC, as the visitors currently lead by 197 runs.
After taking a small lead into Day Two yesterday, Sussex were eventually dismissed for 196 as the well-set Harry Finch (31) could only add a single to his overnight score.
But the total gave the hosts a first innings lead of 35 when Hampshire took to the crease once more and they amassed 232 for 7 by the close of play yesterday.
There was another two wickets for Academy seamer Matthew Hobden (pictured) whilst trialist Hugo Peterson, Lewis Hatchett, Michael Rippon and Matt Machan all snared a victim apiece.
The hosts will aim to pick up the final three wickets quickly when play resumes this morning at 11.00am to set up a final day run chase. Entrance is of course FREE and as a bonus for spectators there is a Sussex CCC Staff XI taking on Horsham on the adjacent pitch at Cricket Field Road from 2.00pm.
