2ND XI: Long day with the ball for youngsters24-May-2012
Sussex’s young Second Eleven were made to toil in the heat yesterday on Day One of their three-day match against Surrey at Wimbledon.
The hosts won the toss and after deciding to bat, had reached 325 for 9 at the close of play, and it was Irish International Gary Wilson who starred with the bat for Surrey hitting an unbeaten 119.
There were some long overs for the Sussex attack and no more were bowled than that of the 21 which Lewis Hatchett got through and he reaped the rewards taking 4 for 45. Will Adkin, Tim Miles, Matt Hobden, Josh Poysden and John Mooney all picked up a wicket apiece.
