2ND XI: Slender lead going into Day Two

Sussex’s Second Eleven will look to extend their first innings lead this morning when play resumes in their Second Eleven Championship match with Hampshire at Horsham CC.

The visitors won the toss at Cricket Field Road yesterday and after electing to bat scored 161 for 9, with Hamza Riazuddin the final Hampshire batsman absent due to his call-up for the 1st XI.

Academy prospect Matthew Hobden was once again in fine form with the ball for Sussex taking 4 for 32. There were also two wickets apiece for Chris Liddle and Will Adkin.

Sussex’s reply was led by Joe Gatting (pictured) (49) who opened the batting whilst Ollie Graham (42) and Harry Finch (30 not out) gave the innings some further impetus down the order.

The hosts will resume a slender seven runs ahead of Hampshire with three wickets remaining at Horsham this morning (11.00am) and entrance is of course FREE
