2ND XI: Small lead for Sussex going into Day Two17-May-2012
Sussex’s Second Eleven took a first innings lead after Day One of their Second Eleven Championship match against Kent at Arundel yesterday.
After Kent won the toss and elected to bat they were dismissed for 141 as opening bowlers Amjad Khan and Will Adkin both claimed three wickets apiece.
Craig Young and debutant Tim Miles also picked up two wickets each whilst Luke Wright bowled four overs on his return to action for Sussex. Visiting skipper Sam Northeast was top-scorer for Kent with 31.
Andy Hodd (57) made a half-century opening the batting for Sussex but Adkin and Machan at number three both failed to score.
Wright (29), Wernars (36) and Beer (24) all chipped in through the middle order but no later batsman managed to make double figures and the hosts were bowled out for 166, a lead of 25 going into the second day. Simon Cook did the damage with the ball for Kent, taking 4 for 44.
