2ND XI: Sussex beaten in Second Eleven Trophy31-Jul-2012
Sussex Seconds were defeated by Middlesex yesterday in their Second Eleven Trophy match at Stirlands CC.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sussex made 163 for 9 from their 40 overs as wicketkeeper-batsman Andrew Hodd top-scored with 39. There were also middle order contributions from Will Beer (28), Harry Finch (24) and Michael Rippon (27) but the total fell short of troubling the visitors who made their target with three overs to spare.
Beer (pictured) claimed figures of 3 for 14 whilst Chris Liddle took 3 for 44 from his 8 overs but despite Middlesex losing seven wickets in their reply they did enough to beat their hosts.
The Second Eleven are back in action a week today (Tues 7th) when they host Essex in a three-day friendly match, with the venue once again Stirlands CC. Entrance of course is FREE
