2NDXI: Seconds beat MCC Young Cricketers in friendly

Robinson impressed with bat and ball

The 2ndXI completed a ten-wicket win over MCC Young Cricketers at Eastbourne yesterday.

Ollie Robinson starred for Sussex in the three-day friendly, taking nine wickets and scoring 67 from just 38 balls.

After day one was washed out, the MCC Young Cricketers elected to bat and were bowled out for 163, Robinson taking 5-48.

Stuart Whittingham, who last week played for Scotland against the senior MCC side at Lord’s, and George Garton took two wickets each.

Half-centuries for captain Harry Finch, Phil Salt and Robinson saw Sussex post 323 in reply, before MCC Young Cricketers were dismissed in their second innings for 173. Robinson claimed four more wickets, with another two each for Garton and Whittingham.

That left Sussex requiring 11 for victory, which Finch and Angus Robson knocked off without alarm.
