ACADEMY: Cape Town Tour


Led by Sussex's Cricket Performance Manager – Keith Greenfield, and EPP Head Coach – Andy Cornford, a Sussex Academy squad arrived in Cape Town, South Africa on Monday to train and play a series of one-day games and a two-day game in the Western Province region.

Sussex’s 2nd XI and Academy Scorer/Analyst – Graham Irwin is with the squad and shall provide regular updates for the Sussex CCC website and broadcast (live), when possible, matches via the CricHQ application on an iPad. You can find SCCC's CricHQ page by clicking HERE

The squad flew via Dubai and arrived late Monday afternoon in good spirits and had settled into the hotel on the outskirts of the city. The squad will have some preparation time at the Western Province Cricket Club facilities before its first game against Bishops School on Friday. Sussex’s own Michael Rippon and Kirk Wernars shall be there – along with newly appointed vice-captain Chris Nash.

The image above show the players on arrival at Cape Town International Airport, prior to their short transfer to their hotel for the next three weeks.

Tour party consists of – Keith Greenfield, Andy Cornford, Beck Hemmingway, Ben Shoare, Charlie Hodgson, Dom Keats, Elliot Hooper, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, George Garton, James Wilkes-Green, Joe Ludlow, Josh Hayward, Kuris Browning, Leo Cammish, Matthew Hobden, Ollie Graham, Ryan Maskell, Tim Moses, John Marrale (Physio), David Hooper (Guernsey CA Coach), Ron Gray (Umpire). The squad’s Sport Psychologist - Bill Filby - will join the party later this week.
