ACADEMY: Izi Noakes added to the Sussex Academy30-May-2012
Sussex County Cricket Club have added Izi Noakes to their Academy squad.
The original Academy line-up was announced back in January and thanks to the hard work shown by opening bowler Noakes, she has persuaded the County’s coaches to add her to the squad.
The Brighton-born 18 year-old has also earned her place in the Super 4’s which sees the best 48 players in England selected to play in a tournament across four teams. She is also a regular in the Sussex Womens side as well as their Under 19’s.
Charlotte Burton, Sussex Womens’ Cricket Association’s Director of Cricket, said, “Izi has worked incredibly hard over the last 6 months on her fitness and cricket.
“Her determination and dedication has shown how much she wants to get to the highest level and all the hard work has paid off with her inclusion into the Sussex Academy.
“I am extremely pleased for Izi as I know how much work she has put in over the last few months to achieve her goal.
“She will play a key role with the ball for the Women and the Under 19’s this year and I know being on the Academy will help her further and hopefully we will see her in an England shirt in the near future."
Noakes will join the existing players on Sussex’s Academy programme which is combined with the ECB. They are Georgia Adams, Harry Finch, Callum Jackson, Tim Moses, Abidine Sakande, Ollie Graham, Josh Hayward, Elliott Hooper, Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Stuart Whittingham.
All Academy players are given a bespoke yearly programme covering physical, technical, mental, tactical and life skills. These are delivered by the professional coaching staff, primarily on a one to one basis, with all programmes overseen by Cricket Performance Manager Keith Greenfield at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove and the Sutton Winson Academy Ground in Blackstone.
