ADKIN: Action in the Guernsey Premier League25-Jun-2012
Sussex CCC’s young all-rounder Will Adkin is currently playing as the Professional Player for the JT Giants in Guernsey’s 2012 Clydesdale Bank International GPL (Guernsey Premier League).
Adkin replaced fellow Sussex star Andrew Hodd who was originally announced as the team’s overseas player in May. He has joined former Sussex CCC favourite James Kirtley, as well as Paul Franks from Nottinghamshire CCC and ex-England, Middlesex and Hampshire men Nic Pothas & Shaun Udal as the 'overseas' professionals.
The tall all-rounder made his first-class debut for Sussex in 2010 and the 22 year-old signed a full contract with the County following that season.
Will’s inclusion in replacing Hodd for the JT Giants further strengthens the bond between Sussex CCC and the Guernsey Cricket Board, following the announcement of their official partnership which was confirmed recently.
Guernsey also recently played a ‘home’ match against Canada at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove and it is hoped that Sussex will be able to host first-team matches itself on the island in future.
Sussex’s Cricket Performance Manager Keith Greenfield said, “This is a really good opportunity for Will to develop in Twenty20 Cricket. He will enjoy himself but most importantly gain excellent experience at this key stage.”
JT Giants have currently won two matches so far, lost one and tied one. For more information on the Guernsey Premier League, please click HERE
