AND STUMPS AT HOVE: Wright stuff for Sussex

A fantastic battling century from Luke Wright led Sussex’s rescue bid on Day Three of their LV=County Championship Division One clash with Middlesex at The County Ground, Hove today.

He ended the day unbeaten on 151 as Sussex sneaked into a lead of 21 going into the final day of the match tomorrow.

Middlesex were eventually bowled out for 496 today as Monty Panesar polished off the visiting tail, claiming figures of 5 for 95 from his 31.4 overs.

This gave them a lead of 267 and with Sussex reduced to 45 for 4 in reply, it looked as though victory was soon heading back to Lord’s. But as he did at HQ, Wright proved the sticking point and went to his century from 127 balls, which included 20 fours.

Sussex will resume on 288 for 6 tomorrow morning as they aim to defy Middlesex in the Championship for the second time this season.

Play begins at 11.00am and entrance is FREE TO ALL!
