Sussex have announced that paceman James Anyon has signed a new two-year contract with the County, which will see the seamer remain at The County Ground until at least the end of the 2015 season.

The 30 year-old took 50 wickets in Division One of the LV=County Championship in 2013, at an average of 28.64. His best bowling this season came in the victory over Champions Durham at Hove in which he took 5 for 44 in the first innings, whilst he took four wickets in each innings of the match against them at Riverside.

He has taken 178 first-class wickets for Sussex since joining the County at the beginning of the 2010 season.

He said of his new deal with Sussex, “I’m delighted to have signed for another two years as I’m really happy playing my cricket down here. We’ve got a really good squad together and I believe we’re capable of winning trophies.

“On a personal note I was pleased how the season went and hopefully I can help us to finish a couple of places higher in the Championship next season.”

Sussex’s Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson said, “We’re delighted Jimmy has signed for the next two years. He had a very good year last year and is a top professional who has the potential to get better with every year.”
