ARUNDEL: ‘The Sussex Cricket in the Community Arundel Festival’

Sussex County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that this season’s Arundel Festival of Cricket will be used to showcase its very own Sussex Cricket in the Community scheme.

The scheme, delivered in conjunction with the Sussex Cricket Board and the County’s charitable arm, the Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust, is in its second year and is receiving considerable national and political profile due to the innovative nature of some of its schemes.

‘The Sussex Cricket in the Community Arundel Festival’, as it will be known, kicks off on Sunday with a mouthwatering NatWest T20 Blast clash as Sussex Sharks face Surrey, before the County host Durham in the LV=County Championship from Monday onwards.

Head of Cricket in the Community Tim Shutt said, “We are developing a range of programmes that use the values that are central to cricket as a way of increasing educational performance and promoting healthy lifestyles, and we want to see more people from more diverse communities playing and following cricket. Ultimately, we want cricket to make a real and sustained difference to the communities of Sussex.”

"Some of the current programmes are pioneering in cricket and it is a wonderful opportunity to be able to introduce some of these schemes to the Arundel Festival attendees and followers."

Chief Executive of Sussex Cricket Zac Toumazi said, “The Sussex Cricket in the Community scheme forms part of the vision that unites both professional and recreational games in Sussex, namely ‘inspiring a lifelong passion for cricket’, and we are delighted that we are able to showcase the scheme during one of our flagship festivals, the Arundel Festival of Cricket.”
