AWARDS: Archer and Wells scoop Porsche Performance of the Month for April and May

Jofra Archer took 7 for 67 in Sussex's first Specsavers County Championship match of the season and Luke Wells (below) smashed 258 against Durham

The Porsche Performance of the Month Awards for both April and May were presented during Sussex’s Specsavers County Championship match with Worcestershire this weekend, at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove, as voted for by Sussex's Twitter followers.

Scooping the award for April was paceman Jofra Archer, who claimed figures of 7 for 67 against Kent in Sussex’s opening Championship match of the season against Kent.

Archer, who has become a key player for Sussex across all formats since making his debut last summer against the touring Pakistan side, claimed his first-class best in the match against Kent, and the rising star has already taken 52 wickets in 12 first-class matches.

And the May award went to Luke Wells for his incredible knock of 258 in the win over Durham at Hove. Wells, who was playing his first Championship match since last September after being ruled out of the early part of the season with a knee injury, smashed seven sixes and 34 fours in his new career-best.

Archer (above) and Wells were presented with their awards by David Erskine, General Sales Manager of Porsche Centre Mid Sussex. The players win the use of a Porsche, supplied by the centre in Burgess Hill, for a weekend.
