Sussex Cricket were amongst the awards at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on Friday evening as the annual Sussex Sports Awards were presented.

The black tie event celebrated the achievements of Sussex sports stars and welcomed five-time Olympian Jo Pavey as the guest of honour, and regular host, BBC Sussex presenter Danny Pike.

Sussex Cricket were represented within three awards on the night and they included Sussex Cricket president and Sussex Cricket Foundation chairman, David Bowden, for the ‘Sport England Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award’, Jim Burroughs for the ‘BBC Sussex Unsung Hero Award’ and Sussex Cricket Foundation for the ‘Active Workplace Award’.

David Bowden and Jim Burroughs were deserved winners on the night with the Sussex Cricket Foundation narrowly missing out on their chance to walk home with a hat-trick of awards.

Bill Lucas, Britain's oldest surviving Olympian who competed in London 1948, was also in attendance on the night to present the ‘Special Recognition Award for participants at Rio 2016’ and was greeted with a standing ovation.
