REPORT: Beer and Sakande bowl Sussex to victory

Will Beer finished with match figures of 11 for 91

Sussex wrapped up an impressive win over South Africa A after taking 14 wickets on the third day at Arundel to an innings victory.

After taking career-best figures of 6 for 29 in the first innings, leg-spinner Will Beer snapped up three wickets in seven balls after tea just when it looked as if the tourists were going to take the game into a fourth day.

Khaya Zondo, who made 95, and Willem Mulder (42) had put on 108 in 29 overs as South Africa A finally produced some resistance.

But Beer switched to the Park End to remove both batsmen in the space of five deliveries before picking up two of the last three wickets to finish with 5 for 62 and a career-best match haul of 11 for 91.

He was well supported by Abi Sakande, who claimed the first five-wicket haul of his career after the visitors had followed on 273 behind after being bowled out for 185 in their first innings.

Sakande took a great catch in his follow through to remove Tembe Bavuma for a golden duck, one of three wickets in a testing new-ball burst.
And he returned to the attack to make the crucial breakthrough after tea when he trapped Mulder in front with the first ball of his spell.

Dane Piedt was his fifth victim on his way to figures of 5 for 43 as South Africa A lost their last six wickets for 26 runs in 35 deliveries to go down by an innings and 50 runs.
