BEER: Will chosen as ACS 2nd XI Player of the Season

Sussex's Will Beer has been unanimously chosen as the First Class Counties 2nd XI Player of the Season, as awarded by the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians.

The award is based on his performances across all three 2nd XI Competitions (Championship, Trophy and T20) and, in spite of the almost constant rain Will’s figures stacked up the best, according to the selection panel, all Members of the Association of Cricket Statisticians. Beer took 38 wickets and scored 304 runs across all three formats.

He also made crucial contributions in the first-team, playing in ten of the Sharks’ Friends Life t20 matches in 2012, taking 8 wickets, whilst also featuring in seven Clydesdale Bank 40 games, claiming 9 wickets with a best of 3 for 27 in the home victory over Warwickshire Bears. He recently signed a new two-year deal with the County.

The Les Hatton Trophy, named after the founder of the First Class Counties 2nd XI Annual, and which accompanies this award, will be presented to Will in 2013.

For those who usually purchase the Annual, it will again be available in March 2013 and, in due course, from the ACS website by clicking HERE where more information about the organisation is available.
