BROWN: Ben 'capped' by Sussex

21-Jul-2014

Sussex’s Ben Brown was awarded with his County Cap before play on Day One of Sussex’s LV=County Championship match with Warwickshire at the Horsham Cricket & Sports Club today.

The 25 year-old wicketkeeper-batsman rose through the ranks of the Academy and County Age Group squads at Hove. He made his first-class debut against Sri Lanka A in 2007 whilst also featuring in List A cricket for the first time in the same season, as he made his bow against Nottinghamshire at Hove.

His first T20 for the County came a year later in 2008 and since then he has become a regular for Sussex and a key man across all formats. He has scored nearly 3000 runs in first-class matches for Sussex and taken in excess of 150 catches, as well as 13 stumpings.

He is seen here receiving his County Cap from captain Ed Joyce before the start of the Horsham Festival of Cricket, a ground where Brown wrote himself into the Sussex record books four seasons ago, becoming one of the four batsmen to make centuries against Derbyshire in the LV=County Championship match.
